Just picked up a short tailshaft TH400, I need to order a new driveshaft and need measurements, can't get a measurement since the tranny is on the floor and the motor is in Florida. Still have the 10 bolt rearend. Any help would be appreciated.

The last one I did was quite a long time ago, but I seem to remember the shaft requiring a 15/16" shortening.

It's difficult to give an exact length because of Tolerance Stack from Car to Car. Also even looking at Trans lengths from Web site to site you find differring measurements.
Example: On the MR site they're different from page to page. LOL!
Automatic Transmission Identification
Transmission Swap Tech
TCI - TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Transmission Dimensions

Tolerance Stack Example:
One car's Engine or Rearend may be slightly more to Front or Rear and can cause Driveshaft length to vary.
Most Driveshaft makers want the car at ride height and length from Rear Yoke to Trans tailhousing end.
(2004R to 400 using 7.5" Rear, DS is 1" longer >> A member on another site said He just changed the DS Yoke and it worked. I don't know if He had to use a different length 32-spline Yoke or not.)

I have a nice 3" chrome molybdenum shaft with 1350http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/brakes-suspensions-tires-wheels/329850-slammed-turbo-regal-picture-thread-new-post.html spicer joints almost new that I bought but it's too short for GN with a 9" ford-$250. Plus $20. For shipping

Found this in another add.
Measures 50.50" center of u joint to center of u joint. 56 inch from tip of yoke to center of rear u joint. TH400 / 8.5" Rear.
