Im having problems with inconsistent Trans break operation in my TH 400. Many times i press the button and nothing happens, i can hear the solenoid but the car continues to move. I notice that when this occurs, reverse also acts up.

If i rev the motor while pressing the button, the break will lock and stay locked, samething for reverse. I ll select reverse and nothing happens unless i rev the motor. Not hard rev ,just a quick low rap at the pedal. At first i thought it would be a heat related problem, but it will happen with the tranny cold, but almost always warm...

Is this a front pump problem?I have checked the line pressures when its operating correctly and they are all in the 250# area.

Any advise???

You got a pressure problem. Bet it is pump related. If pump bodies and/or stators were swapped early and late this could occur. But it is definitly pressure related.

Louie I have had so many problems with the Hipster brake a couple years ago I will not even install it anymore. Some work flawless and others just dont. Give Hipster a call they might be able to help.

Not to conflict but..

That is all I will run or install. I have been dealing with Hipster and Charlie for over 20 years. I have NEVER had a so called "bad" one. What I like is I can "tune" the trans to react with it. Speed it up or slow it down. Anyway, that is all I stock and install.

I'd have to agree with Bruce. How in the world could a such a large vendor as Hipster survivie with a flakey brake on the market? JMO:confused:

Thats an easy question to answer. Not everyone can afford a Griner Brake so there is a need for the cheeper Hipster brake.

How much are these brakes and where can you find some info on them like price? A buddy of mine is looking for a brake to use in his 400. What other ones are out there?
Dan
