Lonnie Diers 513-545-3072 He has Griner VB's and more. Highly recommended.

I didn`t know Lonnie had access to Griner. Griner did have his website open to the public, but not anymore. You have to buy through Transmission Shops.

id bet mine is faster than griners.we use the int cluch instead of the directs to lock the car.on the 400 page of my site.

There is nothing on the market better than the Griner VB. It is lightning fast and fixes many calibration problems that can not be fixed is the stock cast iron VB.

lonnie for what its worth we tested one back to back and the results were impressive.steve is vey intelligent but the 2nd gear apply releases faster period.just look at how it works, and youll understand my point.there is no direct drum to exhaust .the timing is not controlled by rear band exhaust but direct clutch exhaust .you can leave the band on for 2 seconds after you dump the brake and it wont effect release as the front carrier is stationary when the forward clutch pack is drivinf the rear ring gear.how is your corroboration with fb going?anyhow brake is 489.00 includes external pressure adjustment if desired(an industry first)the shortest path to apply the direct clutch, including the griner as we use the reverse passage and block the high on the support.includes 2nd return spring assembly and piston, solid teflon seal rings for the support and pump and technical info. description from website : Competition reverse pattern full manual valve body with "Pro Tree" transmission brake. This one of a kind CNC machined transmission brake uses the intermediate clutch pack and rear band to apply the brake giving the user the fastest release available.Period.

Chris, I don't suppose there is any hope of a good brake for the 400 that keeps the forward automatic shift? I care more about having to have a manual valve body than I do about not having a transbrake, if/when I go to a 400 :-).

no one makes one but i can add it to my 400ma at a cost of 800 dollars if you are interested.ill need a week to build it though.

I would like that also, do we need a mechanical modulator also on the turbo cars?

if you want automatic shifts you have to have it.if people are interested ill do them, pre paid.

so your saying that you can build a fully automatic TH400 with a transbrake ??? I like that !!! I do not think anyone builds one . I've heard of one with a automatic 1-2 shift, but not full auto . for what reason I do not know why they wouldn't .I'm sure you could sell a ton of those if priced right .I'd be interested .:)

i made one a while back when i was developing my trans brake.ill dig up the notes.the solenoid bolts to the rear of the valve body.it was funny because the 2 holes machined into the solenoid body (not intended for this application)just happened to bolt to the 2 rear valve body mounting bolts.if people are serious ill dig it up.what do you think?only thing is when using the brake you must manually shift.otherwise it is just like a stock th400 valve body.

So when you engage the brake the shifter must be in L1 or its not gonna work> How about engine braking?

IMO that would ideal !! . :) I had a 66 Nova with a reverse manual valve body . for the first 2 weeks it was a lot of fun on the street , then after that it became a PIA .

A local trans guy told me that the release would be slow and erratic if the vb wasn't reverse pattern, which is why I sounded so pessimistic. Would I actually have to shift or could I just move the lever from 1 to 3 after releasing the brake button to launch, and have both the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts be automatic?

works exactly like a stock valve body automatic shifts in drive etc.in low,oil is sent to supply the solenoid with oil(this way it cant be done by mistake in manual 2 or drive) ,the solenoid when activated fills the direct clutch circuit slick circuitry allows this oil to not exhaust at the manual valve or enter the reverse circuit as well as dump the residual oil in the circuit so the car can leave.this is brake apply.engine braking in all ranges but can easily be deleted if it is not wanted
