thanks to all you guys who i talked to or wrote to for help it took 8 hours do convert to vacuum with a bad back and buy myself.(4 of them were bleeding the system!) one more question though, any one know how to get more vacuum for better response? thanks again guys the gn is now drivable.

What do you mean, better response? Are you sure you bled the system right? Do you have bigger than stock cam?

Vacuum brakes not going respond like the powermaster......you can try a large vacuum canister for extra vacuum storage it may help a little.

If you don't have the extra vacuum resevoir I would highly recommend getting one. The first time I had to stop quick after a full boost stoplight launch, I ordered one from Summit!!!! It was a VERY scary experience. The resevoirs are about $40 from summit and work great. It also gave me a good place to measure engine vacuum...

IMO the powermaster system has a better stopping power vs the vacume brake set-ups

I couldn't tell ANY difference. Then again I never drove the car much back then. Maybe I was just happy to have brakes once again.....:D

Perhaps the others who have converted to vacuum brakes; Paul, Cale, or Ivan can post their experiences here.....:)

I was driving under freeway over pass by kahala mall; when all of a sudden my brake lights came on. I thought to myself, I must have left my parking brake on by mistake. Red light ahead... Stepped on the brakes, NO BRAKES! Stomped on the parking brakes. Very scary experience! Did the vacuum swap, and IMHO the vacuum brakes feel more responsive and brake better. But then again, maybe I never had a 'working' powermaster unit. But I feel safe knowing that my vacuum brakes won't just suddenly go out in traffic!

I personally like the vacuum brakes better. :) The only thing is after a burnout, but on the street you can't beat the depenability. When I see a TR/GN behind me, I'm hoping they converted over;)

Well if that's not rubbing it in.
Most of us are always behind you.:D
Just hopefully not for long.

Hey!!!!! Stop putting words in my mouth!!:D You know I meant in traffic. It'll be awhile before I'm running again. The motor's apart and at the shop, and no trans.

Hey Paul! You can't go V-8, otherwise our fastest member will be.............
