Blew away a SRT-8 Charger today.

Started from behind him at a light. As soon as he saw me move over to come along side, he got into it hard, so I went with him and was passing him in short order then just walked away.

He got along side me later at a red light when I was turning left and him going straight, we gave each other a hang loose sign and he shouts out, "That thing is sick!"

I yelled back, "That thing gotta a Hemi in it?" and he started cracking up.
Cool guy.

I didn't have the heart to tell him mine is far from being the fastest Turbo Buick around and has a tired out tranny. I made him look pretty bad.

That's alright, he'll get some mods, then think he has a chance when he runs into another GN...And still get his ass handed to him LOL

Nice kill man, I need to get my car back on the road! I keep running into this black charger SRT8 and a new Challenger and I'm never in my damn buick at the time.

I know the feeling...I'l be in the DD 96 Escort and be lined up next to an SVT Mustang on the right and an SRT-8 charger on the left...I go get the T-Type and its a Nissan Quest minivan on the left and a Corolla on the right.

My problem is the exact opposite.

I drive the GN Mon - Thur and my Camaro (see sig) on Fridays. I'm involved in felonious street racing entirely too often.

I don't do the ricer thing (weaving through traffic) and only play when the road is wide open, but sooner or later...I'm gonna get popped, kill something or be killed.

In Cali, it's a felony to street race. In some counties, they can confiscate your ride. In LA County, they have been known to not just confiscate the ride, but if you are a repeat offender....they crush your car....while you watch.
:-O
I need to buy me an Escort!
But then I'd probably try to race bicycles...or pedestrians!
:-O
I have no self control.

The weaving in and out of traffic thing pi$$es me off to NO end. I think I need to slow my roll just a bit with the T-Type anyways...got a careless driving ticket last sunday. I was in a bank parking lot and had to drive thru a puddle...well it was 7:30 sunday morning...not a car in the parking lot...why not spin the car around on dime? Why not...well because there's a sherrif deputy sitting across the street in another parking lot watching you...that's why! He watched me and I still didn't see him...the tires were still wet when I pulled out of the parking lot so I slid the car just a bit.

He was torqued at me yelling etc...you could of killed someone...kill who? I was the only moving car for a couple of hundred yards but there was no sense arguing...he could have given me a wreckless so I won't complain too much. It just makes me so damn mad that I didn't see him. This is the first ticket I've gotten in 8 years. He said something like "you had that thing to the floor coming out of the bank" I told him "not really" which made him more mad then he said something like I've owned mustangs my whole life, you had that thing to the floor. I wanted to say something like well that's your problem right there you don't know what turbo six power is....but I just kept my mouth shut.

At least Florida has traffic school where you can do 4 hours of school to avoid the points...hopefully my insurance won't go up.

I had a similar experience back in High School.
Pulling out of the school parking lot I was looking left while turning right. There was a little dirt from a construcion truck spilled across the drive way so I got my tires in it and hit the gas while turning. As I looked right and straightened out, there's a cop with a buddy of mine pulled over for a ticket and he's fingering me to the curb.
I pulled over and got out of the car to go talk to him. I told him there was dirt on the drive way and I accidently lost traction in it. He told me if I could bring back two hands full of dirt, he'd let me go. I ran over there with my passenger and we both were able to scoop together enought dirt to fill our hands while he watched us to make sure we were not grabbing it from some where else...we were about 100 feet from him.

Before we got all the way back to the cop, he says, "Drop it and get outa here. Stay safe!"

Man was I releived.
I smiled at the buddy who was getting the ticket and he was like:confused:

Just to give you some back ground on my driving record...before I was 18, I had 13 tickets (mostly speeding) and 7 traffic accidents. License only got suspended once for some reason. Right after my 18th b-day, I got a Reckless Driving ticket for a street race. I won.:D

Lately I seem to get a replacement ticket every 2-2.5 years. Just far enough apart to qualify for traffic school. If you go to school it won't count on your driving record and insurance can't see the points.

That's what I'm told about the driving school. Insurance in FL is expensive with a clean driving record...I don't want to see what it would be with a couple of points.

I really couldn't argue too much about the water because he saw me do it twice. Granted I could have done the same thing with the tires dry but it would have took a lot more thottle angle and the tires would have been smoking. There was no tire smoke because it was just turning the tires on water. Personally I think what I was doing was acutally pretty safe...learning to keep the car going the direction I intend without actually really getting on it and without anybody else around. I really want to find a business owner who will let me wet down his parking lot on a weekend and let me get used to controlling the rear end while letting it "wag" out from behind.

I grew up in Michigan so I at least have "snow" driving skillz...but this T-Type is definelty the most torquey car I've ever had and its not done yet...I have a 67 mustang with a 408 Stroked 351W and its nothing like the buick. Matter of fact I got the buick because the mustang is fully restored: my dad and me did all the work and I've owned the car for 17 years (since I was 12). So I didn't want to end up wrapping it around a telephone pole and my neighbor is big into the turbo regals...so now I have mine.

hehe, here in OK, most jurisdictions let you keep a ticket off your record by doing probation -- you pay the fine, and as long as you don't do anything in their jurisdiction for 6 months, then no record. You can't do it if you got a ticket within the past year or something, but the different towns and counties don't share records, so as long as you didn't do anything in their jurisdiction they don't know about it. Anyway, I've done probation in about 5 different towns -- i've done it twice in the town i live in.

the time i got an "illegal speed contest" ticket in Oklahoma City, i had to do a little online driver's school thingy to get probation, but that one didn't get on my record either (i lost the race though, dammit). But even with all those tickets that didn't get on my record, plenty did (including one for reckless driving; ouch, 6 points), and I've had my license suspended once. Anyway, I just like to think of traffic tickets as an extra cost I pay to be able to drive the way I want. Its well worth it IMO.

I take to heart that Van Halen song... "Write me up for $125, post my face wanted dead or alive, take my license, all that jive -- I can't drive 55."

its funny how many of us turbo buick guys have long traffic ticket records, lol.

That's a Sammy Hagar song. Before Van Halen.

oh, i guess you're right. well, it was before sammy joined van halen anyway i guess. i was born in 84 so i wasn't very old when that one was big! ;)

he may not be eddie, but at least he's a car guy! he likes fords though :frown:

LOL I would of had a hard time keeping my mouth shut too!!!

If you read carefully, that's only for cars found containing stolen parts. Still, I agree with your main point that Cali is harsh on street racing. Those ricers and other idiots with their sideshows and stupid racing with drunken spectators ruined it for the rest of that like to find somewhere quiet and have a few good runs.

Good kill, OP.

Jim
