OK....I'll try to describe this without butchering the terminology too much.
I have a 3" THDP.....which I like and seems to work well. But lately on the web I see alot of other GNs that have a THDP with another smaller tubing coming off to a ??wastegate?? (that's the part I'm asking about).
I read one guy's comment that this new set-up is doing away with the GN's "older technology". What exactly is it? what's it do? should I consider getting one? Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Thats an external wastegate which could potentially give better control over boost. This is especially true if run in a closed system that uses a CO2 charge to hold the gate closed and is controlled by a seperate electronic boost controller. The tech on the TR's is not old. Its still used today by almost all the car manufacturers that use turbos. It requires less space and plumbing for an internal gate than an external. If your internally gated THDP works than leave it alone. There is nearly nothing to be gained by switching but a lighter wallet.
