This movie SUCKED. Period. Here's my Review, and I seen this movie with an Open Mind. I'm a Christian, however, nonetheless,I love good Fantasy Movies, if they're written well and have substance.
Truly, It was a Lord Of The Rings, Ripoff without a Great Story Behind It. Not only that ,but the Storyline was just flatout disinteresting and just kind of boring. You'll see. There was some action and some magical crap (with computer special effects of course) but truly the storyline was just way too stupid and out there. I don't feel that it's even a good visual movie for a kid, because kids would actually be bored by the tons of English Rhetoric and a somewhat difficult and confusing storyline.
The movie although controversial, is purely a fantasy movie to me. It's the first of a trilogy, and it leaves with a cliffhanger. The story is so dumb, that all the people who are worried that it may cause controversy with their Christian beliefs, really don't have anything to worry about. It's just a stupid story, period, and the person whom the story came from must be proud of his stupid movie, Nevertheless. He put a lot of money into it, but failed on the delivery of what he was trying to convey in the first movie here.
Nicole Kidman is gorgeous and always captivating to look at. I will say that. Also, shes great at acting a Villain, but never really does anything interesting except dress in a nice gold outfit, and act obsessed with the girl and the golden compass. She never really does more than that.
The Bear in the Movie is the best Actor in the Movie. The young girl who read the compass did a pretty good job as well with the acting, but you never really get close to any of the characters.
I can't believe I wasted my time watching this movie. I could of used the time to get a great workout in the gym.
As far as Rating Stars - From 1 to 5, I'd give it 2 Stars.
