This movie SUCKED. Period. Here's my Review, and I seen this movie with an Open Mind. I'm a Christian, however, nonetheless,I love good Fantasy Movies, if they're written well and have substance.

Truly, It was a Lord Of The Rings, Ripoff without a Great Story Behind It. Not only that ,but the Storyline was just flatout disinteresting and just kind of boring. You'll see. There was some action and some magical crap (with computer special effects of course) but truly the storyline was just way too stupid and out there. I don't feel that it's even a good visual movie for a kid, because kids would actually be bored by the tons of English Rhetoric and a somewhat difficult and confusing storyline.

The movie although controversial, is purely a fantasy movie to me. It's the first of a trilogy, and it leaves with a cliffhanger. The story is so dumb, that all the people who are worried that it may cause controversy with their Christian beliefs, really don't have anything to worry about. It's just a stupid story, period, and the person whom the story came from must be proud of his stupid movie, Nevertheless. He put a lot of money into it, but failed on the delivery of what he was trying to convey in the first movie here.

Nicole Kidman is gorgeous and always captivating to look at. I will say that. Also, shes great at acting a Villain, but never really does anything interesting except dress in a nice gold outfit, and act obsessed with the girl and the golden compass. She never really does more than that.

The Bear in the Movie is the best Actor in the Movie. The young girl who read the compass did a pretty good job as well with the acting, but you never really get close to any of the characters.

I can't believe I wasted my time watching this movie. I could of used the time to get a great workout in the gym.

As far as Rating Stars - From 1 to 5, I'd give it 2 Stars.

Thanks for the warning. I'm passing on that and that hokey Dustin Hoffman movie that is now out. Saw Fred Claus recently and it wasn't too bad.

Thats too bad. I was looking foward to watching that. No suprise tho.

Your probably a lot like me when watching those type of movies. Once you have seen Lord of the Rings it's hard to find another fantasy movie that compares. Im not sure there will ever be a movie as well written, directed and original as the the Ring. I've probably seen all 3 atleast 40-50 times and they never get old.

The Lord Of The Rings- Still Rules!

That's true GNBRETT. Lord of the Ring's was truly a hard movie to ever compare, but truly I went into this movie hoping to see a good storyline, or something that had a decent plot, with kool characters at the least. Instead, it was long and painful and it took a while to get the storyline moving. You didn't really get close to the main characters either, and the storyline didn't have a good buildup to it. I think it could of been written so much better, but the creators and writers didn't put enough into it. Maybe the next one in the trilogy will be better?? Time will tell, but for now, this movie was a dud.

It got more attention from the dumb anti-religion controversy than anything. From what I heard, a lot of religion tones were omitted so it wouldn't of offended too many people.... nevertheless.

I suggest that if you want to see this movie, don't waste you money for the big screens and wait till it comes out on DVD or Blockbuster.

Thats too bad. I was looking foward to watching that. No suprise tho.

I felt the same way about the latest Harry Potter movie. That new short, fat, annoying teacher of the dark arts I believe was the most annoying character I have ever seen and ruined the movie for me:mad: I might watch the next compass movie but I will skip this one likely.

"The Golden Compass" doesn't even appeal to me. It seems like they are targeting a lot younger crowd more on the lines of "The Never Ending Story" or "Sharkboy And Lavagirl" type fantasy than something targeted for adults.

But now on to the Rings trilogy. What do I need to say. Visually it was stunning but as far as story line?? Just watch "Clerks II" and you'll get an accurate description of my opinion of the Rings. :D

Anyone find it ironic that there is an advertisement for the movie at the top of this thread:confused:
