Stanley "Stan the man" Cupryna left us Tuesday last week for the great quarter mile in the sky. He was a good guy, always upbeat and friendly. His knowledge of our cars was great and hopefully some of us younger guys held on to some of it. He also ran 10's with no legs, heck, I cant even run 10's with two perfectly good working legs.

He was a Buick guy to the end, by end I mean he was buried with a Buick shirt on, a turbo 6 lapel pin, and two large decals on his coffin. One saying Buick in the font used on the earlier Regals and then GRAND NATIONAL under it.

His wake was held on the evening of our monthly car club meeting. With the help of Dan (northerngn), Tom Shea (tom shea), and Dave Kozlak (he is afraid of the internet) we had a great turnout at our meeting with a planned caravan to the wake. It turned out nicely, we were able to line up 10 TR's on the street in front of the funeral home, his wife and kids seemed to really appreciate this as Stan would have most likely thumbing up everyone.

I am the web master of our clubs website and set up a memorial page for him. If you knew him, or knew of him, or would like to see some pictures and read a little write up from Tom check out this link, Minnesota Grand National and T-Type Association

That is unfortunate and sad to hear. Seems you guys did well by him and him by you. That's all you can ask for.

Stan Cupryna

I'm sure he's was given you the thumbs up when he saw th 12 gun/GN salute. That was awesome of you guys to honor him in that fashion.

God Bless and comfort his Family during their loss.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. Traffic really seemed to be alert and let us stay mostly together the entire way. We concluded our meeting at another drive in that was probably 15 miles up a busy drag right through the Univeristy of Minnesota. Traffic there also seemed to agree with us, or else they just liked seeing turbo Buicks play leap frog with WOT shots all the way there. :D

god bless him, and god bless you guys for giving him a fairwell salute he would be proud of ( i know i would be ) very nicely done guys.

That's cool that your members will have memorial sticker made to remember Stan by. The car we have I purchased from the widow of a friend and fellow GN enthusiast. He fought hard but succumbed to the cancer that ravaged his body. He had bought this car in Feb 88 bracket raced her from day one. Was well liked among his peers lin the Drag Racing community here. Just like your buddy and fellow Railroader Stan.

Actually have a memorial sticker on the driver's side opera window that says "In Memory of Jackman" (Jack Davis) He was so sick he'd have his wife help get to the front porch of an evening so he could look at his GN. His wife said that was his baby, I'm sure he was remembering all the times she took him down the 1/4 mile. I was blessed to get his baby.
