As long as you keep up with the maintenance and dont detonate it, these cars are pretty reliable. The $$ comes in when U want to upgrade to bigger turbo, intercooler, heads, etc (and even then, its still waaay cheaper to upgrade than a Supra or 300zx and can be made faster for less $$)..

Best and most accurate post on this thread.

All muscle cars break down especially when you drive them the way they should be driven, HARD! I had to rebuild my tranny after my 1st trip to the track and just had another one built by Vince Janis last week. My GN has been towed 3 times in the last 4 years, once for the torque converter, once for a bad chip, and once for a broken battery cable. It might break again but that's okay. I will keep fixing it and keep driving the hell out of it as long as I am able. These cars are great fun. Be proud, you own a LEGENDARY MUSCLE CAR that many other people wish they could own. I almost forgot,

Yah he was easy on it. I was tinting the windows on his truck last night and I told him about stumbling across this thread and that you live on the west side and when I told him your screen name he knew it was you and he had heard about your trans. So we decided to mess with you. If you ever need help with your car call Doug. Hes got the scan tool. I would be glad to help also. He floats around on here also, since we are both looking to get our own soon but I dont think he has posted anything ever.

To Fn funny.............

TRs are just wrench hungry. It seems higher mile cars almost run more reliably, and the pristine stored cars and less frequent drivers have the issues. We sold a 37 mile plastic covered interior car a couple of years back, it needed an ign module just to crank. The OEM part didn't make it to 38 miles..... Thats crap. Most of our low/no mile cars needed work from our TR mechanic. (had to hire him to come out and work on them on site). The 70K+ mile cars crank everytime, run strong, and give no real grief outside the normal bumper fillers cracking and falling out and typical 80s "GM quality".
