I think I have this correct but I am looking to the board for confirmation.

If all pressure readings are correct, I think the following things play into how a 2004r shifts from 1-2 and then 2-3.

Valve body

1-2 valve and plunger
2-3 valve and plunger
1-2 accumulator
T.V. Valve and plunger
T.V. limit valve and plunger
Governor

Have I covered all the physical components that might effect the shift points. I am trying to isolate my shift problem. I have a brand new valve body that is supposed to shift my points from 5k on the 1-2 and 2-3 to around 5.8k - 6k and I am no where near that. In fact with the installation of the new valve body and governor my 1-2 shifts around 4800 and 2-3 shifts @ 5100. The valve body and governor set up is a Monte SS. I have the support of the vendor, I would just love to figure this out myself.

Can anyone provide any assistance with regard to trouble shooting, based on information provided. I have reviewed the forum for answers and have found many post with similar type problems, but the post don't end with a solution in most cases.

I have take the valve body down twice now. Once earlier to find I had a stuck T.V. valve causing my pressure readings to stay @ 220. The second time around I found nothing unusual with the valve body.

CHECK BALLS
I could possibly have the check balls that go in the valve body and not the casing in the wrong place. First I have three is that the correct number and if any one could provide a definitive schematic of where these check balls should go that would be of great assistance.

in your other email you said 4000 rpms.is it 4000 or 4800 and is there a difference between hot and cold?has to be vbody related or the gaskets are leaking off oil due to improper torque.

You are right Chris, it was 4100 for the 1-2 shift.

I have noticed no difference in cold and hot.

You say valve body related, can I take the thing down and dis assemble and re assemble?

I could have the bolts torqued wrong. I think after reading this I see they need to be torque'd to 114 inch lbs or something close to that.

Can you help me understand how improper torque might cause it to shift early. it is bleeding off pressure from the regulator?
