Thanks for the vid. I have seen my share of the K-9 officers cutting loose their dogs. It is funny to watch some of the suspects run away thinking they can outrun that dog.

We even had a guy hide underwater in a big ditch one time breathing thru a tube and the dog went under water and came back up with a huge chunk of flesh in his mouth.

The thought of running from Police is one that has never crossed my mind.

Nor has doing something that would require that I run from Police....

Those Dogs Kick ASS

We work with (I did a short stint. I don't do it now) 2 bomb sniffer dogs on camp, and boy are they cool. One's a malinois, the other's a shepherd that's bigger than his handler. Already bit 2 handlers lol. The malinois already whooped a skinny (somali) cuz he got too close lol.
These dogs are cool, and can smell anything. Though I think my pitbull is stronger.
I tried hiding from Dio and Sissy (my dogs) and it can't be done. Not in my house anyways. I tried EVERYthing. It's useless. And god dam are they strong... I'm in good shape, and dio wins every tug of war we get into. :)
I wanna see pitbulls in police dog duty.

The stills of the Hyenas was cool. Anyone else catch that? That would be a deterent.

The Mali imo is the dog best suited for law enforcement. In Europe they are used quite freaquently. Not so much over here. They are definately around but in my 13 years our dept. has never had one. Well, we had two that were mixed and they happened to be the best K-9's we have had.

The Mali is used almost exclusively with KNPV or French ring competitions. They can simply perform physically in ways the Shepherd can't and have drive that is just simply over the top. There are plenty of excellent Shepherds tho.

Btw, Pits do not have the strongest bite pressure either like everyone seems to think.....

Humans bite at 120 pounds.... Stay away from Tyson.

Domestic dogs: 320 LBS of pressure. A GSD, Pit and Rott were all tested using a bite sleeve with the computer instrument in it. The Pit had the LEAST amount of pressure of the 3 dogs!! Lol... some people believe that Pits bite at 3500 lbs. of bite pressure. That would snap a humans bone in half thru a bite suit. So that is just complete BS. They do have a higher tolerance to pain tho it appears but do not bite harder then other protection dogs.

The Malinois will bite harder then any of them at about 350 lbs.

Hyenas have the strongest K-9 bite at 1000 lbs. of bite pressure.

It's pretty amazing how hard some of the dogs in that video hit. I've got a 120lb Shepherd and as far as the strength of their bite force goes he's caught racoons and woodchucks etc. and when he gets a hold of them the sound of their bones breaking reminds me of the sound of crushing a bag of chips. It's wicked.

Those dogs hit with such force, they are definitely badass!!! Whenever I see one of them running to get a suspect on some of these shows I always think of Al Pacino from Carlito's Way "Here comes the pain!!!!"

pits don't have high bite preesure they like most in the bully breeds just don't let go. kind of like a croc they lock and start spinning and ripping. any one ever see the vid with the guy that took on two leo shepards and about five cops and had the dogs running away. cop broke the slide off his gun hitting the guy in the head and he still kept fighting them. i think it was on cops back in the mid nineties

I don't mean to be argumentative, or come off like a jerk, so please don't get defensive when I say this. It's just what I've found: 1st off, I never said pitbulls have the strongest bite pressure. I know they're up there, but I can't, and won't make any conclusions. Secondly, what you said couldn't have been further from the truth. Definitive animal bite tests were proved totally inconclusive, and were dismissed, just as the human iq test was about 15 years ago. There was no scientific method, for ensuring that each animal, and each type of dog was giving it's all, every single time. All they could measure, was what that animal felt like biting at that specific time. How do we know he was feeling lazy that day? How do we know that an alligator was not too motivated, and the malinois was really peppy, and beat out the alligator by 3 psi? After I read that (about 2 years ago) I changed my perspective a little. What makes Staffordshire terriers so different, is their drive to complete the job, to a point unlike any other animal around. (or that I've seen anyways) I've seen hungry cheetahs here, give up quicker. When they bite into something, it's usually for the long haul, as I've seen countless times, while wrestling with my best buddy Dio. We throw down on the back lawn almost everyday, and I come away winded every time. And I'm in good shape. He doesn't give up, regardless of how winded he starts to become. On the hot days, I have to throw in the towel, because after about 30 minutes of heavy wrestling, I can see he's overheating, dehydrating, and breathing heavy. I do this out of love for my dog, but if it were up to him, he'd continue wrestling 'till he dropped out from heat exhaustion.
As for the pitbull having the least about of bite pressure. All I can say is he was feeling lazy that day. Just like Dio. Somedays he puts only half effort into our wrestling, while other days, he goes full bore. (unless of course, it's a genuinely serious situation, which he can decipher immediately)
One day, he thought we were playing, when I was moving this piece of 1&1/4" hardwood dowel rod for hanging clothes, and jumped up and bit it. I was like "screw it, ok, lets play" and I jammed it between the wall, and the extra sofa we had downstairs, so that he could play tug of war with it. He bit into that thing, and snapped it like a toothpick. I was like "oooKAY. Today must have been a 'feeling stong' day for you... Remind me not to piss you off in the future.."
So, you never really know what that test animal is feeling that day. Some days, they're feeling motivated, while others, they get up and say "**** it, I ain't doin' **** today." just like humans.
Don't believe all of those tests soo quickly. Dio pulled my 4 door bmw down the street, (i had his favourite rope hanging out of my trunk) like it was a wheel barrow, and annihilates those huge oversized meat bones I get from the store. I mean he breaks 'em in half like their doggy biscuits.
Though other days, he's a lazy bastard, and won't do anything but watch tv on the couch.. all day. You can never tell with animals...

This is my best buddy Dio. Very smart and Very friendly. Here's pictures of him relaxing, and him playing with his wife, "Baby".

The American Staffordshire is what as known as a pitbull.
Post more pics of Dio!

Sorry back to the k-9 cops!

Brett not to rain on your parade but a friend of mine is a top dog trainer. he trains & sells dogs all over the country to police depts. he exclusively uses Malinois because of there speed & agility, not bite pressure.
here is a video on biting, it's a good watch.

This is Dio relaxing in bed, and just hangin' out in the computer room, thinkin' he's the cat's pajamas. "I'm a pretty big thing around here. People know me. I have many leather bound books, and my office smells of rich mahogany... "

He's very friendly and gentle. But if provoked, a guy, or any malinois, shepherd or rottweiler would have a better chance of winning a game of russian roulette with a full cylinder of bullets, than with a Pitbull. Their dedication and steadfastness is just scary. When he gets a mission in his head, forgetabout it. It's either mission completion or death. If I had just an eighth of his motivation, I'd be a 4 star general by now.... I spent 2 years around Dio's entire family, and man are they great dogs.

Oh im not saying they are used because of their bite pressure. I was just pointing out that they bite a little harder then other dogs. Mali's are used because of their agilty and abilty to have incredible drive. Kool vid.

He can be, but it takes a lot to get him pissed. He's soo good with kids, and just would rather sit on the couch with you and watch tv. Sometimes he forgets he's 61 lbs, and lays across you, like you're a pillow lol.
As for trying to hide from any dog, good luck. They're soo good at finding drugs/explosives. And I wouldn't want to tangle with any of those dogs lol.

i have a 75lb female american bulldog. they have the same tenacity as the amstaffs and pits as well. they aren't classified as bully breeds for nothing. once they get something in thier head there is no stopping. but as was stated, i wouldn't want to mess any of those dogs
