I am currently running an unopened stock block with a TA49, 50lbers and a 3200s tall 9.5in Vigilante and im toying with the notion of stepping up to the plate with the big boys. You can see what other mods I have in my sig. I would love to get my hands on a DUAL BB as I keep hearing all these great things bout em.

I was just wondering what is the biggest turbo I could go with (without waiting an hour for it to spool) or what you guys think would be the best for my combo. ****Please don't limit it to my injectors as I will step those up if need be....but I don't plan on opening up the heads***

My car is mainly driven on the street

PTE-61 w/ 6.3 housing. Great with a 3,200 stall and will put you in the 10's with heads & Low 11's with out.

CPT-61 BB from Cotton's would be a nice choice with your current mods & stock engine.

axl, what are your limitations, how far are you willing to go?when you start going to bigger turbo's supporting mods should follow to fully use the capabilities of these bigger wheels.the ball-bearing turbo's are pretty cool and definatly allow for tighter converter's to be used.for the street driven cars i would probably go no bigger than the cpt61 like underpressure suggested.

So you guys that are recommending the CPT-61 (I did too above) I have a question and maybe I should start a new post but oh well...I just got my fuel system lined out and I went for a drive. When I launch the car with a 2700-2900 stall conv. Where should I ideally have the boost on take off, 4lbs 5lbs,? I know that you want as much as the tires and breaks will hold and as much as you can get to the pavement-it's not spinning the tires. Maybe my question is where does this turbo like to be, so far I'm running 18lbs of boost at WOT throttle with the Alchy turned off with NO knock and it's hot out today. How far would you all turn it up? What's this turbo like? Mods in my sig...Stock block and oh yeah 62mm throttle B and Accufab upper plenum.

Go 6776 BB.

Go with the big dog spool up is crazy, make that real crazy, especially with that convertor U have. I do have a few supporting mods but the difference was nite and day from my old T63e. 0 to 20 lbs of boost in .6 seconds.

My setup is very similar to yours and I am running a Precision GT6152E and have been very happy with it. With a 3200 stall it spools quickly and just keeps getting stronger as the PSI increases. I believe it is the most modern version of the 61 trim turbo's. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway that is what I run and it has served me well.

Dont worry about your injectors with alky you'll be fine. With the 50s and alky you got ~60s.

Thanks again guys!!! Alot of guys say CPT61 and one guy says 6776....have to say that I was hoping to hear 6776....but can you guys give some reasons behind your suggestions or reasons as to why I shouldnt get this or that. Obviously all the suggestions are based on my combo but I just want to better understand thats all.

My thoughts on the CPT-61 BB were based on the air flow requirements & power band of your stock engine, good spool up with your converter & plenty of turbo if your combo should grow with ported heads & cam.

Thanks that is exactly what Im looking for....what exactly is the powerband for a stock engine? Haven't got my car dynoed yet any guess what I may be putting down?

A good running stock engine with good valve springs will pull to 5,000 - 5,200 rpm. With 27" - 28" tall tires it should pull through the end of the 1/4 at the top of 3rd gear. Can't help you with the dyno numbers, the best way to judge hp is by the mph in the 1/4 IMO.

I have never replaced the valve springs in my car is there a certain mileage that they should be swapped out or what?

you have 55,000 miles on your car i say its time to change the valve springs.

I'd get the Turbonetics 66 single BB turbo with that stall.

Good with or without heads and cam.

Assuming you are in the future going to go with heads and cam. on the motor?

Comp. cams. 980's or equivalent for valve springs.

Jack Cotton should be able to help you with both items.
