Hope everyone in the path of Hurricane Charlie is staying safe and out of harm's way. Got my in-laws in the Tampa area and my parents are in Tamarac. Hoping for the best for all of you.:)

well,
i am not feeling well. i live in tampa but have 2 of my cars in venice
which as of 15 minutes ago that is pretty much the center of the storm.1 car is outside near the beach, the other is at my shop
that is pretty much a tin can !! i have my fingers and toes crossed.

i think i finally have a reason too be concerned about

FRIDAY THE 13TH !!!

Looks like its going to get bad in the FT myers area. Its upgraded to a category 4 (135+mph). It was headed to tampa but turned early and is heading for Ft Myers. My family is in naples about 20 miles away, so they're getting nervous. Luckily they're house is brand new, rated to 135mph and just spent $8k on hurricane shutters.

I'm down here right now in Plantation, FL (Ft. Laud suburb). So far the wind has picked up just a little but no rain except for yesterday afternoon and last night briefly. The eye is just past Key West and nearly upon Ft. Myers at this time and it's tracking toward Orlando. The outer bands don't even look like they're reaching over to the East Coast but we'll see. We've made no preparations other than what we're going to do for dinner. :D

Thanks Mark...

We are pretty lucky this time in the Miami area,
We were getting ready to leave for Gainsville first thing tomorrow morning to take the kids back to college, with a truck full of stuff to move Nicole (our youngest), but I think we're posponing that trip till Sunday.

I hope our friends, north of us fair well, be safe.

I am in Orlando, and this is my first Hurricane. I'm from WI, crap like this doesnt happen there. My wife lived through Andrew and started crapping bricks when it was upgraded to a Cat 4. Hope all is well for those in Ft Myers/Tampa. Let us know how it goes.

Scott

My best wishes to all of you. Latest preidiction has hit passing across Florida into the atlantic then straight up into the NC/SC border. Let us know if you need anything from us.

John, you should go to the SE corner of 595 and university drive (home Depot) and check out the car show. Usually 500+ cars every friday. Probably still have quite a few show up even with the hurricane.

Yup, good luck and God bless, Floridians. The alternative, such as living in New York, may not be your cup of tea...

:D

Just my Luck... The GNX gets here yesterday and I'm gonna have to wait over the weekend for Mother Nature to do her thing...BUMMER! Tough it out Florida.

Pray for the people in the Naples/Port Charolate(sp) area, it appears they took a direct hit.:(

Yup, hope the folks are alright down there. It's definitely going to ruin some property. There are a lot of retirement communities full of trailers down there.

Looks like we are going to get the eye of the storm coming through Orlando  , they say there has not been a Hurricane come through here since 1960 (Hurricane Donna) .
Well this should be interesting. Stay safe fellow Floridians.

Jesse

When Charlie passed beside Grand Cayman,it wasnt that bad.Only 95mph winds, nothing got messed up.Hope the same for you Floridians:)

 Man--i hope it doesn't come this way(Wilmington,NC)---we just had a very bad tornado last night 5 miles from my house that killed 3 people and tore up ALOT of things.Last i heard from this hurricane--it is supposed to come right up the mouth of a river that is right out my back door:eek: ---I am REALLY not in the mood for this:rolleyes:

Hope you guys in Florida are doing OK

Geoff

Hey ghall Its 12:30am and the local news here in Jacksonville just said the winds are at about 75mph and Charlie has past between St. Aug. and Daytona and is now in the Atlantic. You may catch some spray...hopefully you won't have much to worry about. I know how Wilmington has takin' a beatn in the past.

Man, saw some of the pics today, and you folks took a beating. Next time drive those GNs up to P'Cola and stick them in my garage. :D

My folks in Fort Myers and sister (& family) in Cape Coral fared pretty well. The folks lost their pool enclosure and a half dozen roofing tiles. Their hurricane shutters are bent up too, but no water damage. My sister's place had no damage at all. They were luckier than most! :)

We finally got power back tonight. Need a new roof, fence and a tree fell on our Tahoe. But we are all safe.
