Right now my car is all stock except for 50# injectors, exhaust system, and Razor's alky kit. I'm looking for some major upgrades in the future and not all of them are etched in stone yet.

Would I be backing up by putting in a better converter before I go thru the tranny? And what difference in converter would a TA60 need opposed to a TE45A turbo?

I say this cause I have a TA60 I can put on the car now. I did this with my last car, but had a 3000 Orange Stripe converter, but I wasn't happy with it at all. Or should I just wait till I do heads, cam, etc.

If I wait to do it ALL at once, I'll be waiting a while. Just didn't know what I could get away with up front.

Thanks

Well the 45a requires a 3400-3600 stall converter. The 60 requires a 3000-3200. Way different scenario's. But getting a looser converter moves the power band up way past 5000 where the stock cam is out of juice. Unless its always locked when it hits second.

Next is the issue what shape is your tranny in? If its bone stock.. upping the power will eventually kill it.

If you make a decision how fast you want to go.. its usually easier to squirrell away parts for the day IT happens.

There is no problem buying a 3400-3600 stall if a TE45a is in your future. Then start buying HD tranny parts.. get the turbo... then kill the tranny. and do converter, tranny, and turbo all at once.

When the tranny lets go, its going to pollute your TC.
