This company has no tech assistance so maybe someone has tried this install. Here is my question:

For the street application this kit says to install only two of the check balls, (the OEM app comes with five). It does'nt say whether to discard the other three or place them back in. (Just out of curiosity, should I replace the OEM nylon checkballs with steel ones)?

It also says to torque the valve body to 100 lbs! OEM service manual states only 13 lbs. (Being made of aluminum I'm guessing that 100-lbs is sure to break something or at the very least strip the threads on the case). You Trans pros ever tried this, or am I being anal-retentive?

By the way, here's B&M's website statement, (have a good laugh)!

Why B&M doesn't have e-mail...We choose to avoid the casual, chat-style format so we can focus on meaningful Customer dialogue. We care about providing our Customers with the most well thought out, accurate product information we can give...

This is an oxymoron. Why have a website then? Spend more money and call them long distance they say? This is so they can keep you holding for electronic messaging. Leave them a message so they can never call you back. This company sucks royally!!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I have never used one of the kits for the C trans but if they say to use only two checkballs, then leave the other ones out. They provide more oil thru those circuits by eliminating the ball which would block off the larger hole and force the oil thru the orifice. I have seen many of the little Viton check balls get hammered enough to pass thru the plate. But then again I have gone thru some trannies that the steel ball hammers the plate also. I would still go with steel.

I think they mean 100 In. lbs. That would be under 12 ft. lbs. and is enough to hold it firmly against the gasket/separator plate.

I haven't used B&M anything in probably 15 years because they sell you a drill bit, pressure regulator spring, sometimes a separator plate, (maybe 2 spacers) for $50.

Thanks Bud,

The kit cost $53.99. But it does come with a little more then that. I looked into Transgo and it is the exact same parts kit. (Looked at what it came with from Jegs and compared it to the B&M kit).

The only differance is Transgo wants over $100.00 for it at Jegs and at another sight $67.00.

Oh well, you've answered my question! :D

Thanks very much, you've been more helpful than B&M ever could wish to be.

The difference between the $109 kit and the $67 kit are in some of the mods. I like the $109 kit and have used a few in customer cars and they are happy as hell with them. I never used the 200-4R HD kit but I've heard a few people complain about drilling the BRF valve body and not being able to reverse it. I have used a TransPak from B&M a long time ago and the only reason the box was big was to house the filter. Still came with spacers to shim up the accumulators to make the shift harder instead of engineering in a spring rate so it doesn't snap your neck the same way at either low throttle or w.o.t. I like the way the Art Carr kit has the orifice in the 1-2 accumulator housing to slow the rate of apply along with the spring so at lower throttle positions it is not harsh but still a fast shift. Yet it'll still bark the tires at higher positions. :D

The B&M kit as Eric mentioned may look similar to the TransGo but there is no comparison.

B&M kits are notorious for killing the intermediate sprag in TH350's because of their bang shift.

The TransGo kit is a much better engineered design.

The Transgo 200-4R Hd DOES NOT have you drill any holes in the valve body. That was the old 2&3 kit, that is no longer produced.

The modern 200-4R HD kit is almost the exact same thing as PTS's kit and similar to the Art Carr.

Good to know. Thanks. I haven't really used anyone else's kits in a long time since I make my own for TH350, Th400, 200-4R and 700's. I still use the TransGo kits for the 4L60E's and other electronics and have ZERO complaints from customers. :D

Well I dumped the B&M kit and sent it back to Jegs. Got a Transgo kit from J.Murphy's e-bay store. ( J.Murphy is an honest and quick merchant).

Thanks for all your help gentleman. :D
