Can the apples use the mice with two buttons?
They have been using the one button forever.

Yes, they can. However, the newer Apple mice can be set up to act as a normal mouse:
Left click- press down on the left front corner
Right click- press down on the right front corner

thinking of getting one?

Me? No not really. I don't have the money to spend on one. I have a friend who likes to take pictures and stuff like that. These new apples seem to be really great at that.

Also can you build an apple like you could a PC from the other makers? Apples seem to a bit expensive, but what isn't now a days.

Not really..

Apple's EULA (license agreement) states that it must be installed on Apple certified hardware only. You can run it on other things but, it's not legal to do so. I have had 10.4 running on a few i386 machines and VMs. Nothing at work, just playing at home. I got very bored with the OS and switched to something that favors my needs much better.

I currently use an iMac and it came with a mouse that has five (!) buttons...one left and one right click buttons, two more switches mounted on each side, plus the little round button to scrool up and down...

Claude :)

I guess I meant to say was, could I call apple and order one. Make one my way with this or that. Or are all of them produced the same?

Different sizes of screens, different sizes or powere of CPU's, wireless & non-wireless, different amounts of memory, different powers of harddrives, are just some of the variables available when ordering. (1-800-MYAPPLE) (Apple)

You don't HAVE to have a Mac to edit pictures. I did alot of projects in the past 10 years, built many web-sites here at work, edited photos and retouched photos with both Mac and PC with equal results. Mac seems to be more comfortable with some things related to image editing. I just bought a iMac in November, it was about $2000 delivered. I got the monster 24" screen. I have to say that it will power up in less than a minute. It will run several application at once. I tested mine when I got it. I played Rattatoo on the movie player, opened several hi rez pics in photoshop, ran flash and built a huge file in flash, had several web browsers open all at the same time. It's a workhorse. The area that Macs really shine in video editing, I heard from a friend who is into video production that the tv show "scrubs" is edited on a new mac laptop. Dell/PC=affordable Mac=more $$$, but you 'll not need to upgrade for many years IMO.
