Hey all. I have some odds and ends that I found in my Grandfather's garage when he passed years ago. One of those is this old pressurization unit. Anyone know what this may have come off of?

I have taken many flying lessons and flight ground school lessons.

There are many many different gauges in planes.

Some run on vacuum.

Since said gauges need a steady vacuum they can not be hooked up to the carburetor because we are always changing throttle.

Planes like a Cessna and a Piper Warrior “which I know a bit about" use a vacuum pump to have the required steady vacuum to keep the gauges accurate.

It usually sits in the rear top of the motor by the firewall.

So My “guess” is that its a vacuum pump.

I will take these pics to my teacher tomorrow and see what he says.

Thanks! My guess is that this unit is from the 1950's. My grandfather worked for several aviation and aerospace companies and got his hands on several goodies. I also have a box of airplane gauges somewhere. I'm curious what those are out of. When I was a little kid, my grandpa gave me a box of misc switches and wire looms. I used to hook them all up in various configurations to lights, speakers, etc. When I got older I think my parents threw all that out unfortunately. Several years ago I was in Hutsville and stopped by the space museum. I looked inside an Apollo luner landing module and flipped out. It was full of the same switches and wire looms that my grandpa gave me. He was one of the engineers on the Apollo project. I wish I still had that stuff. I had no idea.
