What exactly is the limit on the stock GN rims when it comes to slicks??? I am thinking of selling my 26x8.5x15's in favor of some 28x9x15 or 28x10.5x15's

which ones will fit the stock rims with no rubbing? i am gonna be shooting for low 11's so i want the 28" tall tire...

Im not positive, but I think you can put the 28x10.5x15 slicks on the stock gn rims and they won't rub. I know they will fit the wheel. Im just worried they might rub. You might have to use a spacer ( Not recommened ). I guess you will have to mount them on the rim and try them. I have seen them on there before but not sure if any mods had to be done.

Good luck

What is the BS on the stock rims? I have 3 3/8" BS Convos and they fit fine. I wish I had like 3 3/4" BS then they would be perftect. It also matters what drum you have on it.

i have the stock iron drums...i could definitely fit the 9" slicks but 10.5 i am not sure...has anyone ever tried it?

The 28X9's will fit the stock rim and on the car perfectly. No rubbing!
MT also makes the 28X11.5 ET streets that measure almost the same as the 28X9 slicks. I haven't tried those out yet but they should fit without rubbing and rolling the inner fender. Anyone have the 28X11.5 ET Street? How does it fit?

Mine are mounted on 15x9 Eagle Alloys with 3 3/4" bs and fit perfect. If it were me, and this is only my opinion, I'd be leary putting them on a stock 7" rim. 28x10.5's are some big wide tires. Very beefy.

TIREZ??

It's recommended you stay within 2" of tire width,up to 10" tires.. After that, IE: the 11.5's mentioned, it's a good idea to have the rim match the tire.
Use of a rim too narrow pulls the sidewall in and reduces footprint. It also adds "wiggle" at the top end, as the tire is squirming around.. It will also "raise your pucker factor"..:D :D
Ask me how I know!! BTDT..

28X9's are really 27" tall and they will fit fine......10" tire too big for 7" rim (as Chuck said)

ET Streets 28X11.5 are 28" tall, but about same treadwidth as 9" slicks......prolly work ok on 7" rims also (won't hook as good real slicks tho...)

Woody, thanks for the the reply. I know the et streets won't hook like a slick but I hate changing tires at the track. I hardly drive my car anymore so I can afford to have them on the car all the time. I have already gone a 1.5's on 26x10 et streets so I shouldn't have a problem going low 1.5's to high 1.4's on the 28" tire.

well the thing is...i really am paranoid about my current slicks...i honestly think they won't hook as well now with my new turbo and injector combo...

i currently run the m/t 26x8.5x15 on the stock rims and they just seem so small...i mean my street tires are wider than those things! will these really continue to hook up well trying to run mid to low 11's??? or will the shorter tire like this prevent me from achieving such a goal and do i need to upgrade to at least 28x9x15???

I wouldn't throw 'em away until you try them.....if ya spin 'em (which I doubt) or run out of r's at the end of the track, time to change (you'll go faster on 28" tires after 115 or so)

up to 600+ HP and 20 lb launches, 28X9's will handle all you got!

I agree with Woody, run 'em before you condem 'em. They may work okay into the upper 11's ie 11.7's or so. Go with the 28x9's after that if you want to run slicks on the stock rims. Otherwise go out and get some cheap 15x8 rims like Corvette ralley's and put the 28x10.5's on there.

The 28x11.50 ET street is only 27.3 in tall ,not 28. I ve had a set for about 2 years now.
