At what performance level are most of you upgrading to a larger diameter throttle body? Would this mod be much of a help to my car? In addition to the mods in my signature I've got a new Cotton stock location IC on the way and an SMC alky kit. :)

I was wondering the same thing as TRBON8R. Would it be worth it for us to buy a bigger throttle body(Jay Jackson's of course) with our mods?
By the way,how much is Jay's?

With your level of mods it would be a perfect addition!!!!!!

To be honest,it doesn't matter what performance level you're at with a T/R.Jays setup will improve airflow distribution and lower pumping losses at boost due to the larger T/Body opening.A lot of guys have tried it and love it.I've never heard of one complaint, performance or finish wise.I think the cost is a little over $100 bucks.Nice and cheap.Stock looking too.

Well, I upgraded my TB for 2 reasons, first, it seemed like there was play in the throttle shaft(throttle open it would wiggle slightly.) Also, because the up pipe is 2 1/2 inch or so ID, and the stock TB is like 2 1/4 inch ID, minus the throttle blade, etc. It seemed to me that the smoother flow/less ID change would be a good thing. It seemed to have better throttle feel too, afterwards. IMO I think it's worth it,,, I think Jays' is like 95$, although I have a 65mmm not his.
As an aside, I also shortened the screws that hold the throttle blade in place so the don't stick out the back of the shaft,, prolly worth 20 hp,, and I sharpened the leading edge of the throttle blade(careful here, don't want to sharpen the wrong side and affect idle.) The 65mm TB has a thicker Throttle blade than stock.

Putting on a modified trottle body is an improvement at any time.
JB's POWDERCOATING offfers a cnc body and upper plenum.
If you only buy a trottle body you still have to hand machine the plenum which leads to inconsistany . Johns' has a taper which was flow bench proven to transistion the air best into the stock plenum. Flown thru a stock intake bolted to a stock head on a 3.800" bore it netted about 10 cfm per cyclinder (60 total).
Send him some mail or call johns87gn@aol or (812)952-1204
