What is yours set at and what kind of a difference does it make.

I just got my transmission back in my car and down to me here in Biloxi. The car runs great, but it shifts really, really early. I mainly just want a good street/daily driven mixture.
Thanks
Charles

There is a quick and dirty way of doing it. Depress the clip and push it all the way back, enter the vehicle and depress the throttle to the floor, that'll get you in the area. I usually push in the detent a few clicks in, thats what my trans likes. Too much and it won't shift the 2-3 under full load. Lets get you in the right forum, maybe someone else can add.

shift points are mainly controlled by a pressure differential between vehicle speed (governor pressure)and throttle position / engine load(throttle valve pressure).generally speaking whichever system generates a higher force at the shift valve will gain control of the movement of the valve therefore controlling clutch / band selection and ultimately planetary gear operating ratio.if a vehicle tends to shift too early for the engine to take advantage of the increased energy available at the flywheel in the higher rpm ranges under heavy throttle this means governor pressure is higher than throttle valve pressure at given throttle angles and we must increase throttle valve stroking to raised modulated throttle valve pressure to increase the vehicle speed at which gear changes occur.simply stated we must adjust the tv cable .they tend to work best in my experience with only 2 notches left showing in front of the cable bulkhead .this is very close to the maximum tv setting available with the factory cable.www.ckperformance.com

early shifts

Chris,

I have been chasing an early part throttle shift for a long time. No matter what TV setting the car shifts 1-2 very early, 2-3, and 3-4 are fine. If I manually shift I can hold the 1-2, WOT 1-2 happens about 5000 rpm. The part throttle shift for example would happen, if you were stopped at an intersection and went to make a right hand turn, it would shift 1-2 about half way through the turn <20mph.

The car has a SysKoKal Kurtz's shift kit, with the TV spacer in the valve.

Thanks,
Mike
