Timing chain tensioner

I think I have only tore this motor down twice now but if I recall both times the timing chain tensioner was all busted and in the oil pan. This can't be good. What does everyone else do?

Don't use them with roller style timing chains. OEM style chains, you can use them or not.

The chain just seems to fit awful loose compared to a small block chevy that doesn't use a tensioner.

Has the block been line bored? If so, you may need an undersized set.

Yes, the block was line bored when the billet caps & girdle were fitted.

You're going to need an undersized timing set. I think Mike at TA has them.
