ive noticed alot of chips being sold with different timing settings wat im wondering is how do u figure what kind of timing is needed? wat is the stock timing ? how do u adjust it , wen do u change it ? i know its alot questions but lately ive noticed timing at different degrees and im trying to get a clear understanding of this and wen it should b done and how many degrees

timing is one of those things IMOP thats kinda of hard to figure out. every car is different and there is alot of factors that will effect timing tables. Basicly if you have a TT chip you can adjust the timing in his chip for WOT operation. crusie timing and low boost timing is preset in his chips. as far as figuring it out some cars like more boost some like timing its something you will have to play around with. i like to put my boost at a target level then start increasing timing and see what it does. if the car picks up power then keep increasing it. if it sees knock back it down some etc, some of the factors that effect timing which im sure you know are boost, compression ration, octane, inlets temps, etc. this is hard to explain. what are you trying to do and i might be of more help

well i do plan on upgrading fuel sytem and id like to be able to turn up the boost a bit more so how do u turn up the timing on our cars?

Do you have a stock ECM, or an upgraded ECM? I believe the only way to do this on a hot air car is to upgrade to the 86/87 ECM and use a PowerLogger or scan tool with the TT chip that's designed for this. The chips for the 85/85 ECM are not user-adjustable.

so if i stick with an 85 ecm i cant adjust timing? is the timing adjusted through a scan tool or power logger ? and only if an aftermarket tt chip is in?

i would upgrade to a newer ecm if you plan on going fast its really easy and you can get one from a alot of cars well with the right ecm that is. but thats just my opinion. i would help with your timing if i knew how lol im still getting parts for my motor lol

ok lets say i do the 86/87 ecm upgrade wen i go to mess around with the timing how is that done ? is it done through a scan tool or power only ? or is it something i physically do under the hood for adjustment?

its an adjustment you will make through the chip. TT has direction on how to do this. you will use a scan tool and the gas pedal to change things like fuel and timing
