I built a small Microsoft Excel program to help you easily compare overall tire diameter and width from one tire to the next. Just plug in the tire size and wheel diameter and it spits out the overall diameter and width. I got tired of using the formulas and doing it "longhand". The formulas are available over at www.tirerack.com, this is just a lot easier!

I originally did this because I knew I wanted larger diameter wheels in the future but could mock up a similar overall size on the 15" wheels that I already have while the car's under construction. Big $$$ savings! I know wheel styles and trends will have changed again by the time I'm ready to buy my "final" set.

Just e-mail if you're interested.

If someone wants to host this somewhere, feel free.

I was interested to find out what the gear ratio was for my car since our cars came stock with 215 65 15 tires which are 26 inches tall and i changed to a 275 60 15 which is 27.99 inches tall.

with a stock 3.42 gear, the taller 275/60 tires changed my gear ratio down to a 3.17 and with my 255 60 15s they were 3.31s

so i tried your calc and got my heights on each tire at

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp?action=submit

and used this place to find my new final rear gear ratio IT WORKS BACKWARDS, inter old diameter as new, and new diameter as old

im happy with the tires, they look good and the car has a different look to it than the 255s
cant wait to see if they hook as good, old radials got 1.80 at the track, time will tell
Next size up will be 325 50 15 and a notch :)
