Looking at a used BGC 3" DP and elbow. Can some of y'all provide a little feedback. Is anyone still using this thing? I read on another board that there were some problems at one time with a sticking puck....

Any thoughts would be apprecited. Thanks.

Had one back a few years ago. Worked fine until the puck stuck. Rusted inside the shaft. Sold it to a friend on the cheap and he drilled out the old one and replaced it. Think its still working fine.

post resurrection!

Well...I am buying the DP so its too late now. I would still like to hear any and all feedback from people with this setup. I have heard that some had a sticking puck problem and some didn't. I also read that the ones that did stick were sometimes fixed with a spring...?

rusted....

Mine rusted inside too. It took me some work to get the puck unstuck. You should see all the rust flakes that shot out of the exhaust onto the floor!
THDP here I come!

Don't think of it as rust. Think of it as being electrochemically ported.

If the price is right, the BGC pipe wouldn't be bad. It fits under the stock turbo shield, but I don't know who you'd fool as it still has a big ass 3" pipe. I would guess the performance is pretty close to a THDP, though I'm the guy that only dropped .05 seconds switching back and forth from a ported elbow to a THDP.

I've had mine since 96/97. Two issues are the puck and getting the donut to seal. BGC redid my puck last year. They simply media blasted it, and it looked and worked like new.

The donut seal requires a little patience and it will seal between 95-99% depending on your experience.

The good news is, the alignment is pretty flexible so you can avoid the heater box shield, frame etc.. I seem to read alot of other brands having problems with that and end up removing their heater shield.

Love it!

I have had no problems with mine at all. It flows as well as a THDP but I believe it is a bit heavier. The fit is nice and it does fit under the heat shield which is nice. I like the spring fit of the elbow to the downpipe as well (allows flex)because mine is a daily driver and that helps over bumps and usual road issues.

Just to make my post clearer, I *am* happy with it despite the issues. I wouldn't trade it for something that makes me cut up the car/turbo shield.

Also, I think it's actually 3" ID which others may be OD.
