hey guys.. i currently have a single nozzle alky kit. Im upgrading turbo to a mid-9 second turbo. Should i upgrade to a dual nozzle, or just go strictly race fuel?

thanks!

ck

You can upgrade to a 7 second turbo and it doesnt mean the car will run in the 7's. As there is a lot more going on to make HP in a combination than just the turbo.

Nothing wrong with any single nozzle kit. You use your tools to get the results you need. The alcohol system is a tool. And in some cases a lot better than race fuel.

Or put it to you this way, why not run race fuel and alcohol together? The alcohol for cooling, and the race fuel for added insurance.

i know that.. ive been racing turbo cars since like 1992/93.. my car is setup for it. just wondering if i should dump the alky.

Then if you've been doing it since 92 then you know you need data to make that decision.

Plenty of cars that make over 1k to the tires on pump gas. Nothing new. Just whatever makes you feel comfortable. My car should run mid 9's and I have no desire for the race gas expense. Tune changes.

The only thing is you need to watch your tuneup like a hawk the faster the car gets. 9 second cars are way touchier than 11 second ones.

Bottom line.. there is no black/white decision as to what you should do on a blanket statement "should I ditch the alky or go straight race fuel"

If the car is a race car.. sits on a trailer.. has a liquid IC.. you dont mind 12 bucks a gallon.. Ditch the alky.

someone had told me to ditch the alky when i told them what turbo i was going to.. i dont care about the 12/gal.. my car sits in the garage, i pull it out.. bust some MUSTANG ASS.. then put it back.. drive to the track, bust 5's (1/8th mile) and drive it home..

I really don't see what turbo size or even how much power your car makes has to do with whether you run alky or not.

I see no reason not to run alky unless you are wanting to run a class where it's not allowed, expecially if you already own the kit. As previously stated run both and your intake charge will be super cool.

as i stated.. i called to price new injectors. 80lbers.. he said that i should ditch the alky and run straight race gas. i just wanted other people opinion ..

thanks!

Dont tell me your going to run mid 9's on a stock computer

And those 80 lbers are not enough without the alcohol system. You need 96's or 120's. I thought this was a serious car with at least a 76 0r 88 mm turbo.

the new turbo is a 76.

You need a FAST and you need larger injectors. The alcohol kit is not the problem. If anything the fuel it provides may be the only thing saving it.

Remember its only 6 injectors. What a guy with a V8 runs 8 injectors. Your injectors need to be way larger. External fuel system, etc etc etc

ok ... finally remeber the car your talkin about .. Alky sure does work well. You racing it or just a street car ??

both.. it sits in my garage.. take it out on weekends.. and drive to track on sundays.. which is about 45mins away.

ive even thought about just re-building the turbo i have and just putting it back together.. but i REALLY wanna upgrade. but the more i think, my stock computer will be a problem ......

You wont find graphite gaskets on a mid 9 sec Buick.

What do you have now that you are considering upgrading to a 76?
