too much boost?

Hey guys, I installed a 125 hp nitrous oxide systems on my 87 GN. The problem I encountered was that when I hit the switch, the boost crept to 25 pounds of boost. I fear that I might blow the head gasket. The other question is...Should the nitrous be applied after the vehicle has achieved a certain speed.
After all 25 Pounds of boost via nitrous or via turbo boost, are they the same? Do I lower the boost via the waste gate so when I hit the nitrous it won't get so high?

Yes...you can lower the boost VIA the Wastegate rod, and it should bring the boost down.....

NOS works kinda like a turbo...It increases Compression PSI....So fine tune your car so that it has the right amount of boost to go with your Shot.
 
NOS/boost

1st - turn the boost down

2nd - make sure you have an accurate autometer boost gauge

3rd - have fun...

normal NOS recommendations are to activate at WOT (wide open throttle). i've seen people "hit the spray" at as little as 2,000 rpm or as high as 5,000 rpm. if i remember correctly N.O.S. states activating anywhere over 3,500 rpm (norm. this is WOT) is OK. they estimate this RPM due to the fact that hopefully the motor should have enough fuel flowing and everything will be fully open (i.e., throttle blades, valves opening and closing fast, etc.) that way the pressure combined with the cold mixture of gas/NOS will not harm any internals. HTH...and it's late so i hope this all makes sense (i'm being very brief).

HEY COPTEASER....

What mods are you running? Turbo? heads? so on....i would say turn the boost down about 3 #'s. 22psi is prob the sweet spot
make sure everything is running perfect....if you have the slightest problem with your motor, nitrous will no doubt make it a bigger problem.....especially with a 125 shot. o yeah...make sure you keep your o2's up....dont wont to lean that puppy out!
