So my recently purchased 02 Z28 was in need of something. I bought a 50 state legal Magnaflow 3.5" catback. A good buddy and I installed it today on his lift and then went for a cruise. Its pretty tame at idle, but when you jump on it, there is some sweet, not-raspy pipe music. We pull out of his shop and drive the two blocks to the 4 lane highway. As I am turning onto the highway, I give it about 3/4 throttle and instantly an unmarked Impala drives through the median and sticks the nose of that car right up my @$$. He then follows me for almost 4 miles, and then pulls into my driveway behind me. He informs me that the new city noise ordinance REQUIRES him to write 2 violations per month, no excuses. He tells me I am not getting one this time, but the next time he hears me before he sees me, I will be the proud owner of a yellow piece of paper.

Illinois sucks the big one!!!!! 50 state legal my ass.....damn politicians don't have anything better to do.

That's what you get for driving a Camaro, had you been in the Buick, you could have outrun him. :D :D

What part of IL was this in?

I had my car out for a drive today and had to dodge a cop in Niles. He was sticking in my blind spot and I caught him looking at the car, so I pulled into a bank parking lot.

Thats too much you just have to move now..no other choice...LOL

Glad u got out of it

Or how about motorcycles with NO mufflers.

Yeah, I never understood why motorcycles were immune to this law. Whenever the weather gets warm, all I can hear are those bikes and they can't be that loud from the factory.

Yeah, that's one thing I don't like about warm weather, idiot neighbor down the street who comes home on his Harley at 3am.

It's just because it's a camaro! I had an '87 Iroc 'vert and can't count how many times I was pulled over in that thing. Stock 305 w/ a flowmaster crossflow muffler, I got pulled over and told it was too loud to be going thru neighborhoods:confused: . Glad you got out of the ticket!

I hate those loud bikes.........I could run the downpipe with NO exhaust and not be as loud as some of those Harleys.

Yep, i hate motorcycles that are just ridiculously loud. When i got a bike by me that's loud, i just open the dump pipe via magic switch in the car. I gotta get my 2 cents in too.

Agreed with 'should have been in the Buick' I've NEVER gotten pulled over, or really any looks from officers when i drive mine. I got a 3'' single shot on there that drones, but still yet to get pulled over for anything. Yet again i dont do anything that stupid in it.

To serve and protect. What ever happen to this motto. Any more, its harass and arrest. It's much more easy to go after hard working tax payers than real criminals. No offence to the Rabbit, he is in a different world. ( City of Chicago) and I'm sure he works for his money.
Suburban cops are the worst. They have nothing better to do. Even the state cops are on a mission to give us tickets.

Some dude goes by on a harley and blows your ears drums out its OK.
The system is so f-ed up.

this was in Bloomington Illinois....and I guess residents around the university are complaining about loud vehicles around campus late at night, and now the cops are being pricks about it all over town. No offense to any cops on the board, as I thoroughly respect you for the job you do, but some of these guys really don't have anything to do besides "generate revenue" at the expense of automotive hobby enthusiasts.

"Bloomington!" Holy white bread Batman, no wonder (yeah that was a pun  ) You are guilty of driving a Camaro and impersonating white trash. It was a good thing that you got rid of the mullet. Was your hat on straight? Only thing worse would be DWB.

Nothing new here. Have to know the locals is the message. On the dream cruise down Woodward, Detroit cops not bad, Royal Oak.. A$$holes. Birmingham, better. Pontiac cops.. they don't give a rip, they have real crime to deal with. The brothers are making burnout boxes on the street!

there are plenty of IROC Camaros and 80's Mustangs impersonating white trash around here. I was driving home from work, in a suit, and I still can't figure out why they always pick on late model performance cars. Of course, this is the same city that thinks its okay to put $100,000 a piece cameras on our stoplights to get the people that run red lights...how many tickets do you have to write to cover that cost, not to mention a $250/month monitoring charge PER CAMERA!

We have around 19 of those ****ing things around here, some even monitor speed. $100 first ticket, $250 for the 2nd, and they were wanting to raise the 3rd to $500. They are making PLENTY of money, and they justify it by saying that accidents are down 8%. It's only going to get worse...
