The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado with 100 mph winds hit East Main Street in Bridgeport CT, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

I took a few pics of the carnage. It was like 90 degrees and the air was still. Within about 30 seconds the winds began to pick up and then Wham! The sky turned black and things got very violent very fast.

I had just stepped in my Police department building when the building began to shake and power went out.

It was over in 5 minutes and this is some of what was left...... It snapped huge trees like little twigs.

The first pic is of the Church adjacent from the Police Department.

First one along the shoreline since the Hamden one back in the mid 80's. Was at work in New Haven when the one hit yesteday, We were lucky, few claps of thunder and a brief downpour.

One that hit Hamden CT wiped out complete buildings. Just drove thru the neighborhood it hit when I left my old job for the day. Ended up having to go back to work since it rained sideways and flooded the building and knocked out our generator. Brett, anything in Milford where Otto is????????

Nope.... His place was untouched. It seemed to follow a straight line path thru the city cause others areas adjacent to the streets hit were completely clear of any damage. It was freakish!

It happened so dam fast. Several of the police cars in the lot were crushed as well from uplifted trees but no one was killed in the city to my knowledge from the storm. Power has been out for two days now and might be another week or so before it is restored.

Residents were sleeping in their cars with the AC on cause it's so dam hot.

We had 2 or 3 murders last week so maybe this will slow down the killings for a while.....

Thats a dust devil in Kansas, we dont even sound the sirens:biggrin::biggrin:

I know I was thinking the same thing about how bad a real fast twister must be in Kansas.

It's just unusual for us to see one up here cause it's so congested. There are no fields here just buildings and homes. There are 150k people in this chithole we call a city.

If a big twister hit our city they would have to call in the National Guard for sure.

it was on Drudge.
while it might be bad for that area, it's just a typical summer up this way in MN. actually, that's nothing compared to what happens up thise way a few times a year- seems like every summer there's at least one small town that gets completely destroyed by a tornado, and sometimes the same twister tears thru 2 or 3 towns at a time. i know of one back in '97 that was on the ground for amlost 40 miles- i saw it with my own eyes from about 1/2 mile away. it was at least 1/2 mile across at the ground. that was pretty intense..

Bison was called in to haul the trees out by his teeth. Kinda like how they do in those strong man competitions I guess.

150k:eek: we have 8200 (yes 8200) people in our county which is approx 40 miles x 40 miles:biggrin:

Pretty rare to see a tornado in the northeast.
When I was in Nebraska, we had tornado warnings all the time.

Must be global warming...

thats crazy, over here in Il we had some several thunder storms alot of people been wiht out power for a few days...it was crazy but nothing compared to those pics...

well some of that storm came up to us around 6:30 Thursday night .. Took out a large tree by our house .. hurt a rare Limited T on the trailer  What a noise !!

We got a few spits of rain and that was it. I'm about 20 miles away. Last year we had a pretty good one run through north of here. NH gets about 1 a year.
