Hey guys need some opinions.

Can a GN be towed with a SUV, say an Explorer for example with a Class II hitch?

The trailer is a small dual axle trailer similar to what U-Haul rents.

The Class II hitch is max weight 3,500 lbs and tongue weigth is 300-350 lbs.
If the car was loaded on the trailer, what would the tongue weight be??

Anyone have experience using this size hitch to tow a GN?

Any help would be appreciated.

No way. Class 3 minimum.
And unless you want to end up on your top or worse, you will probably want a WD (weight distribution) type hitch with a sway control.

You said yourself the hitch is rated to 3500, how much does the GN weigh, plus the trailer weight?
The hitch alone is not enough, and the fact it is behind a small SUV doesnt fair well.
I have been looking into towning mine with the Astro, so I am going through that process, asking advice and questions.
Its not worth the safety risk IMO.

I would never use an explorer to tow anything. period.

Tongue weight should be 15% of the total trailer weight. If you go less than 10% the trailer will sway back and forth at speed.

Figure the trailer weighs at least 1500 lbs + 3500lbs for the car. This gives a tongue weight of 500 to 750 lbs.

That's pretty high for a small SUV without load leveling bars.
