I'm looking for some real track #'s with these turbo's.. Chime in guys;) Please post MPH also

I like someone else's quote on topics like this.

"crickets"

My guess would be that most 6765 guys are running low 11's/high 10's (because they don't have the combo to go faster - they overbought in turbo just like the 6776 craze) and most 6768 guys (probably just a few out there) are running mid to low 10's. Otherwise, they'd bought a 70 or 71 to run some easier 9's - as if 9's were easy in the first place.

If you really plan on maxxing out one, then plan on probably 132-134mph for a 6765, 138-142 with a 6768.

I realize that both turbos are rated for more HP. And the original 70gtq/hpq is continuing to prove that it has more power potential than anyone ever imagined, but for the rest of us common folk, it's hard to see that we'll be able to max out a turbo like the faster TSM/TSO guys.

Maybe a vendor will chime in with better info, but I doubt they've have had customers to max out either turbo before stepping it up.

Hope that's helpful anyway.

Melissa/Grumpy went 9.90's with a 6780 cast compressor wheel and a .63 ex housing if i recall. im sure Grump will chime in. John Crawford went 9.80's with a 6776, also cast wheel. The potential of the turbo is limited by the exhaust flow on the 3 bolt turbos more than anything. For maxing out a 6765 id say closer to 140 and a 6768 closer to 144 before you working them really hard. The PT54 has been 132.

I'm going 4 bolt next season. Do they have a 4 bolt housing for the new Billet Turbos??? I'm between the proven 70GTQ or one of the new billet turbo's. I will also have a few more cubes next year.
Thanks

Of course they do. Any T3 can run a tangential 4 bolt. Id go HPS if i was running a T4 housing and want to be able to make some real good power.

so a gtq is a 80 wheel and a hpq is a 68? hmmm my gtq 67 is looking a lot better all of a sudden

3,730 # car 6768 dbb billet stock longblock with converter issues. Not loose enough to spool an too loose on top. It blew through the converter 1st and 2nd gear. then blew a HG at the 1k ft mark. the heads had been lifting for awhile. 2nd pass on this combo

We recently removed a CPT70BB with Ptrim froma customers car and installed a billet 6765 with 63 housing. car went from 125MPH to 130MPH at the same boost (around 28) low 10.70's to high 10.30's I ported the turbine housing before we installed it and we can get rock solid boost with a HD actuator no creep problems, this is with pump gas and alky.

What's the rest of the supporting cast for that car?

Do you have any incrementals for bot setups? Just wondering where the ET improvement came in...... on the front end..... back end.... or everywhere...

Hmmm some interesting numbers for sure. I wonder what one would do on my combo. With my CPTBB70 P-trim I went 133mph at 24psi. Sounds fun!

this turbo thing on the buicks is always interesting to me.on this board we have guys running 125mph on a 70mm turbo and guys running 125mph on 49/44 turbo's:rolleyes:there just seems like such a big difference in what works.

109block, forged pistons, 212/212 roller, Champion alum. heads, unported, precision single disc converter, 83 lb injectors, TT chip, translator, 3.5" maf sensor, pte stock location IC. that should give you an idea

It is better everywhere, especially on the street, at the track the biggest gains were in the second 1/8, biggest problem is now we are going through the converter or the car would be even faster. I knew the billet 67 would be better I very suprised how much better it was.

Id bet that converter was eating at least 3mph there, maybe 4mph:eek:. What was the eighth to quarter pick up? Im not suprised since you were comparing it to a dinosaur with a very inefficient by todays standard 76 trim ex wheel.
