Hey Guys,
I figured I would try here first. I am looking for a set of trailing arm braces. They mount on the front bolts for the lower arms and run up to the front bolts on the upper arms. I am hoping some of you racers that have gone a more serious route have some laying around your garage from your slower days.

Thanks
Coach

I have a set of the Alston one's for my car and they fit pretty well. I can't tell you the material difference between these and the Hotchkis but I suspect Hotchkis is twice the price because of the sticker. Just a heads up to Jeremy as well

Im curious why you would need adjustable braces? Why on Earth would you ever want to adjust them? They just need to bolt in right? Did your Alston braces come with hardware? I know they say it gives you the ability to pre-load but I dont see how you would preload at that point between two solid pieces of metal. I'm thinking I may go with the Alstons as long as they come in black!

Those Alston braces are in my price range. These are easy enough to make. Maybe I will add them to my collection of items on the fabrication thread. When I get something to use as a pattern, I usually find a way to make it a little better and make it for myself.

What is the opinion of the lift brackets on the lower arms for street use???

Thanks
Coach

P.S. Whats up Jeremy? I have been keeping up on your post. Your car is turning out top notch.

Thanks brotha! Maybe I'll wait for you to make a set of these braces! Although, I do have Hotchkis lower arms so maybe the sticker is appealing! I dont have any money though. I'm not really sure I like the idea of the lift brackets. In my opinion the best way to set up your rear is with adjustable upper arms.

The one reason for adjustables is frame variances I guess and a perfect fit BUT it's probably something else that'll loosen up and make noise. You can get the Alstons in a gloss black but no hardware.

How long are the bolts supposed to be? What size? Did you just use grade 8?

I have Metco adjustable uppers now, but I believe I am going to get the Edelbrock uppers and use the lowers that I make. I am going to sell the Metco set-up, both lowers and uppers. I just heard a few racers say that their car hit alot harder once they added the lift brackets. I was just curious. I am going to get the Alston braces. I use to know Chris (Alston) pretty well 15 years ago, when I was doing Pro Street cars all the time.

I just don't see the need for the "sticker". If you ever run over anyone with your car, they may say,"WOW, this guy has some kick-azz hardware on this machine!" Just before the pumpkin takes his head off, other than that, no need for it.LOL

Thanks

coach,

This is a different Alston. These guys are a small shop in Illinois not the Chassisworks dude. Still descent stuff though.

Maybe I can get a Hotchkis sticker and put them on the Alston braces??? Is there any difference in the anle of the braces between the two companies? Looks like the Hotchkis are bend and the Alstons are straight. Im wondering if I would have clearence issue with my exhaust.

Jeremy,

They have a slight bend in them as well. You should be A OK with the exhaust.

Sweet looks like my next purchase once I am employed again! How long and what size bolts did you use?

It has been an age since I talked to Chris Alston, so I guess it will be a while longer.

Jeremy, they fit onto the bolts that hold your trailing arms into the frame. You need the same size, but longer. It is an easy install. If I make a set, I think I am going to incorporate a drive shaft loop into it. I know you probably cant see how, but I have it in my head bouncing around, plus I need something else to post on the fabrication thread.

Thanks
