TRANNY 400 OR 200r4

I am having tranny problems and am really REALLY getting sick of thinking about a 200r4 rebuild and finding a builder close to Va, so far no luck and out of state, well the car is a daily driver for NOW, drives ok but has a BAD sliipage problem when i get into it. Now i am trying to figure out if i should ditch the 200R4 and go to something which will NOT break as easily and is reasonably priced if it does, the 400 seems a good alternative. From what i have read rebuilding a 200r4 by anyone besides the people on here is like playing russian roulette, something i am not feeling like playing. THe 400 seems alot easier to get rebuilt and is reasonalbly priced, i know it has no overdrive but having a tranny that i do NOT have to worry about BREAKING is well worth not having OD to me. Price of a rebuild in the future is cheap also....SOOOO what would have to be done, i have read i would have to replace the driveshaft, ok so where would i get the proper one and who to buy it off of, i have searched and found NO definitive answers on that. One person said you would need to change the crossmember, another said you do not. I would like to know people who have dealt with the 400 and not someone who just has hearsay knowledge, any help is GREATLY appreciated and i have noticed not too many replies on this and have done searches on every board and would like DETAILED info at all possible, THANKS!!!!!

In Virginia, Or being there, there are alot of guys both on here and off here that are fully capable. You got Alan R. (6paktogo..1-615-893-1665) in Tenn and SE Turbo ( 1-800-SE-TURBO) in Atlanta , two that come to mind. I could come up with more on my puter at work. Let me know if I can help.

ok where in tenn is sixpactogo, close to knoxville, if so then ill be moving there in three months so looks like im in luck, i love in norfolk right now and am looking at possibilities and need someone who knows what they are doing and look respectable, one place i went to looked like i stepped into the GHETTO when i walked into the place, he offered to take a look but i was like no thx, i just do not trust a place that has garbage everywhere and the cars there looked like they got jerry rigged to just run...only a month left in the navy then im OUTTA this craphole and back to college, thx for the advice..
