Mr. Stu... they don't make a rigid one for my trans... I CAN buy a t400 one like Greg K. had from CSI and cut it to fit.. but it's $300 and being cut would lose it's SFI rating.
I don't care about the rating that much, but the blanket is only $80.. I just want to make sure it doesn't burn up on me driving to school.
How'd your car run at Indy?
I'm about to put my trans back in with tbrake. can't wait.
LOL, don't want to talk about it. Had too many problems to let it hang out. When I got them sorted out, I went to the local track. I got one 1/8 pass (warned not to run faster than 10.0) and found I had a pinhole leak in the tranny cooler. So back on the trailer. It ran 6.2 in the 1/8 at 21 psi, 1.4 60'. So it might run pretty good, we'll just have to see.
Damn.. isn't that much faster than you were going before with the boost etc?
I think I have heard Greg gripe about the lack of room with the shield, but I didn't remember it being that big of a deal the one time I helped him.
A trans guy I talked to did complain about those longer bolts that it takes.. he said that's the only real bear some times is getting the longer bolts in with not much tunnel room.
My transbrake maker STRONGly erged some type of protection with making 800+hp in a T400 OR my 4l80e.. so if you don't have something, I'd recommend it. It's rare, but the drum can explode on something as little as putting the car in neutral at the end of the track.
RCI blanket here. It's a bit of an PITA to get the tranny bolts in and out, but not to bad.
I have ~300 miles with the TH400/blanket in place. The previous owner had a few thousand street miles on a 2004r with the same blanket installed.
