My GN hasn't had any problems leaking tranny fluid (oil, yeah) until today, I noticed it looked like it dumped a half quart of fluid out. It's never leaked a drop. It was parked for nearly a year in my parents garage, and didn't leak, it was in my garage for over 3 weeks sitting while the seats were being recovered. I got the seats back Friday, took the car out for a spin on Sunday morning. No leaks were seen yesterday, but today there it was. What would cause this? It has been rebuilt around 10k miles ago. Along with a level 10 shift kit, Art carr blue plate clutches, Art Carr servo, ext. tranny cooler, coolant lines are tight, seal on servo looks dry, not coming from front seal or rear seal, looks like it's from the pan gasket...

Pan gasket, filler tube seal, T.V. cable seal, selector shaft seal, speedo seal.

Mine is leaking from the shift linkage shaft. It looks like it coming from the pan gasket but is is from the shaft seal.

yep he got it the converter drained into the pan and the fluid exited out of the selector shaft seal this happened to me also so i drained the rest of the fluid ut and i will fill it in april when it gets warmer out.

i wonder if some of our converter companies can put a drain plug in the converter like mercedes benz has on its vehicles? this would be great when doing a fluid change...

Sounds like it probably is the selector shaft seal, I think that is the only seal we didn't replace when it was out:mad: , what causes the converter to drain? It's never done it before, does it just have to be lined up just right? I had a converter in my Iroc that used to do that all the time, it was fine for a couple days, then it would drain and make a huge mess. Never the GN before, hope it doesn't continue to do it.

see the converter is vertical and the pan is horizontal. when the converter is filled while driving the space in the converter is taken up so when it is parked for a while it will start to drain back into the pan and overfill it. then it will either come out of the vent tube on the top of the trans or out the selector shaft seal of it is warn a little (the path of least resistance).

Just an update; Got a filter kit today, there might have been 3k miles on that fluid/filter/pan gasket, but it looked like thats where my leak was coming from. Leak was coming from the very front of the pan, and off towards the drivers side some, almost where the gasket gets smaller. I Can't believe how hard that cork gasket had become! Nor can I believe the huge mess I made:mad:
