I am new to automatics and have a couple of questions. I noticed after the new motor the car shifts abnormally smooth during normal driving. I checked the tv cable with directions from gnttype.org with no results. I also notice a slow almost slipping feeling from 2-3 at WOT. I thought it was from leaving it in OD. The car has 55,000 with pretty much easy miles with a AC shift kit and non L/U converter. Where should I start to trouble shoot this problem? TIA

When I did the spring cleaning this year. I changed the fluid. I just checked the level at operating temp and it's right at the top of the cross hatch. If you have a 3500 stall should the oil levels be higher? I have read users adding extra amounts to componsate. What should I check next?
thanks for the reply.

Has the transmission/converter changed since the motor was redone or were they just left alone? If you've not changed anything transmission related, how did the shifts feel before?

It took me two years to get the car together. I remember the car shifting great but the stall was way low. 1500 tops.

When the motor was changed I had to up the stall on the converter. Just for reference the real AC did the change. It is also a non L/U. Lets just say for instance the tranny was set up for non L/U and the converter is a L/U or vice versa. What kind of effects does this have?
thanks

How much stall speed was added? It could be that the converter is making your transmission feel softer. In most cases, if a L/U converter was put in a NL/U transmission, the TCC would try to lock as soon as the vehicle was placed in any gear, reverse or forward.

Thanks MeanBuicks for the reply.
Before the converter was restalled it would flash anywhere from 1500 to 2000. After being restalled it flashes around 3500 easy. Works great with the pte-52 and cam.

So are saying the L/U has nothing to do with shifts?

What other things can I check to make sure everything is sound?
thanks

If it has the stock pan on it then over fill it by 1 Qt., pump is bad about cavitating. It won't hurt a thing by over filling it.

I will give it a try. Maybe with that high of a stall it's cavitating the pump between 2-3rd shift.
thanks
