Tranny shifting out weird

I pulled the GN out yesterday and took her for a nice ride to the hardware store. Anyway, the last few times I've driven it I've noticed that it pulls really hard off the line (like it should) but when it goes to shift into 2nd gear it sort of for lack of a better word, slips, but not really like the tranny is going bad. I know it has a different stall converter, but is otherwise stock. Could the problem be the TV cable? Also, whats the difference between a TV cable and a normal detent cable? Thanks
