tranny slips

i just bought an 84 regal for 185 bucks. i kno helluva deal. the only problem is, is that the tranny slips. it has to be driven in second. and even then it shifts really rough. i'm new to the g-body and dont kno a lot about them. i live on maui and have looked for a few places to either rebuild or to purchase an entirely new tranny. i want the 350turbo tranny but i heard that i would have to upgrade my engine also. its got the 3.8litre v6. it runs great but the tranny is my problem. does anyone kno a place like on the west coast that will sell a used or new tranny for relatively cheap...like 5 or 6 hundred with cheap shipping? thanks.
