Who has a trans brake?and how do you leave with it?

Do you just hit the botton and floor it?

Or do you still feather the throttle like spooling it on the foot brake?

trans brake hold the car stationary by locking the transmission internally

for consistency you usually use it in conjunction with a two step rev limiter , i'm using an electronic boost controller that has launch stage mode

there are two types for us , the stageright style (mellander :Sp?: brake) for the 2004r (i run one) which is mechanically activated brake and youd never know it was there , with car at rest when you put shifter in low 1, this puts the trans low gear against reverse gear internally and car wont move till gear is shifted out build boost and when ready shift out (bump shifter forward),

the other is electronic (and faster ) available for the 2004r and the th400 and those use a solenoid activated by a switch , on the 2004r its called a Bat brake , usually requires putting in low gear to be able to activate , then hold the button down , step on gas and build boost , release button when youre ready to go
if you do have a two step (like MSD dis4) you can floor it knowing the rpms wont go past your set point ( ive found this doesnt work to well on stock ecm unless you floor it ), FAST has a better two step built in , i run stock ecm and with my electronic boost control and external gate i just set the desired boost and floor it once the tree starts , I usually have desired boost before the last amber , either way you can leave your foot to the floor or build till your ready but the less your on the brake the better your trany will feel since it builds heat fast on the brake ( a really good trans cooler is reccomended)

plenty of threads on it if you search\\

I'm getting a stage right this winter,but i may not have explained my self right.}

When you engage your trans brake(which ever kind it is),do you just mat the gas peddle or do you still feather the throttle to build boost?

i was editing to my orig post, check it
you can do it however you like if you can leave when your boost is where you want it
with foot to floor mine is a little slow to build the first couple psi , but after that boost climbs at a remarkable rate , almost too fast to see it moving
this is why a two step helps , otherwise ease in and hold boost using the throttle as if you were on foot brake

Beware when using stock driveline parts with a TransBrake.

Stock parts can live into the 10s off the foot brake, with Transbrake your on borrowed time ..

+1. make sure you have a good drive shaft and a good rearend. Snapped axles are no fun let me tell you.

That is what i needed to know, thanks for the reply.

broke ring gear

I have been using a trans brake the last couple of years using the "mat it when the first amber lights" technique. Attached is the result with the stock ring gear. Axels are Moser and drive shaft is from Drive Shaft Specialties. Its definitely a little harsh and I plan to use some type of launch boost control for next year.

hell looks like my ring gear but yours is alittle worse. i had 4 teeth broken off mine. i wish my ring gear would have went before the axle.

My Vega, with the V-6.They where stock resplined axles,i now have a set of Mosers.

wow that **** snaped clean. i snaped my axle this year foot breaking it on MT ET Street Radials and it went in about 3 pieces

That happened on the street trying to show off for my friends.

just goes to show you need to atleast do axles if your going to play. be carefull out there. i got real lucky and it looks like 10secvega did as well.

What if you where to "preload" the driveline before setting the trans brake?

I have a stage rite, but I have not been to the track since the install. I was thinking when the time comes. Was to power brake it a little to load the drive train and then engage the Transbrake.

Will that work?
