I have a biggie front mount trans cooler. my aftermarket al. rad has no cooler built in. so the lines were cut and rubber hose connected to the cooler.
What i want to know is does anyone make a cooler that will accept a -an fitting of some sort vs a side on hose.

A tech at my job suggested running new lines and getting a cooler with fittings as my current ones have been rubbing against the frame and are showing some wear. He also says the rubber hose has a much higher chance of blowing off with hot fluid going through it.

I would like to do something to prevent future problems.;)

YES, I JUST BOUGHT ONE BECAUSE THE GUY BEFORE ME HAD THE SLIDE ON RUBBER HOSE DEAL AND THEY WERE SWEATING FLUID.
ITS A B&M COOLER PART# 70266. IT COMES WITH 1/2 NPT FEMALE THREADS AND YOU CAN EITHER PUT A RUSSEL FITTING NPT TO AN IN AND RUN A BRAIDED LINE TO IT OR A BRASS FITTING THAT ACCEPTS A METAL LINE LIKE THE FACTORY ONE.
I HAVE THIS UNIT ON 3 DIFFERENT CARS, IT WORKS GREAT.
HOPE THIS HELPS,GOOD LUCK

This company makes the best oil coolers in the world.

If you purchase one with a built-in fan you will have the freedom to locate it away from the intercooler, radiator, a/c condenser stack, which will improve their performances. Plus, it could make the plumbing substantially easier.

I just did this yesterday. I used the B&M 70266, which is actually made by LONG out of Canada. It has 1/2"NPT inlets, I used a 1/2"npt - 3/8"npt reducer bushing then a 3/8"npt to 6an fitting. Also 1/4"npt - 6an fitting will screw directly into the transmission case. Good Luck. I can snap pics if you want.

Are you doing stainless braid? Can you send me a picture? I want to see how your routed them near the frame.

Ditto. Can I also get a pic?

Please, do send me some pictures too. If I understand it correctly, the 200 and 400 use the same cooler fittings.

Thanks

I actually re-routed them last night. Now they go from the trans. to underneath the starter heat shield (LT1 starter, not sure if possible on stock starter) and along frame. I'm still not real happy with how close they come to the ATR headers. I'll probably run about 18" of "fire sleeve" where they pass under the headers.

Scott,

Can I get pics of your install. I'm just in the process of trying how I'm going to do mine.

Thanks a lot !!

In my not too humble opinion, mybuick could use some protection on its' new hoses where they pass through the frame. (See gn4u2c's original post).
I had a copper cooler line break from work hardening (guess there's a reason they are steel from the factory), and believe me, leaky cooler lines aren't fun.

been on 3 years 20,000 miles now and no leak as you can see.
