Trans cooler lines change???

As anyone else changed out the trans cooler lines with the engine in the car? It looks like a PITA! One of the two lines if not both have rubbed something and is now leaking like crazy. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

tape ends of lines to keep dirt out
on a lift start radiator end of lines in from the flywheel side feed and twist them forward
may take a little bending which is easy to straighten out and easier with starter out of the way but definitely doable

I may go to hoses instead of tubing and rerouting it so the hoses are out of harms way Has anyone else changed over to hoses instead of tubing. I can make the hoses at work.

What are the fittings going into the trans and into the radiator?

5/16 invert flare at trans fittings and at radiator

if you remove the adapter from the trans its 1/4"NPSM

i use -6an braided teflon hose and 6an to 5/16 inv flare adapter

Just got done doing this, I had to take the starter out and my crossover pipe also just happened to be out and I went through the bottom, it is a PITA but it it's achievable.

You can remove a section of the tube and replace it with compression fittings and new 5/16" tubing.

Or a section of tranny hose rated rubber line same 5/16" but ID. double clamped.

Cut and route the new stuff where it's easier to get at and out of harms way of rubbing.

You can use a jacket of thicker sliced rubber over the 5/16" rubber line I believe 1" heater hose will work if you have enough room and want it more protected slice it down the middle and zip tie it over the splice.

I make hydraulic hoses at work so I can make one and crimp AN fitting on the ends. I need to try and find a route that is out of harms way. It is leaking right by the engine oil pan. A splice may not be to easy there. I need to contact our hose vendor and find out if it is rated for Dexron 6. I also need to find some fittings and get them ordered or check with our vendor and see if he can throw me a few.
