I thought I read somewhere that a lock-up 2004R trans only sends fluid to the cooler when it is locked up. Is that true? Is that why you need to mod the trans to run a nonlock-up converter? I have a friend with a trans that doesn't lock-up, with a lock-up PI vigilante converter, BRF trans with the plug for ecm hook-up. Pretty sure it's just the solenoid, but the fluid is reletively new (3 months) and smells burnt. Trans shifts fine, just thought maybe what I thought I read might be his problem. Thanks for the help!
