trans dip stick?

Just about done hooking everything up from the 1 1/2 year rebuild. Can you get the trans dip stick tube back in without having to take off trans crossmember and dropping the trans alittle. I've been trying for awhile and not having any luck. If someone says it's possible,(which I would think so) I'll keep trying.
