Trans going bad? please help.

First it shifts really late (around 4000+ rpm), feels like driving a
5-speed, down shifts very violently too.
Second, Highway driving (overdrive) again holding rpm in 4000+
range even when lightly holding the gas but when i let go rpms drop to a 2000 range, light tap on the gas and again rpms are over 4000 range but maintaining same speed.

I have installed a 2600-2800 stall converter about a month ago
and ever since gn felt slugish/stuter in low rpm/speed.

Also any of you guys know a good trans guy in ny/nj area.

Sounds like you spit the govenor spring out or tv valve is stuck. As for a good trans guy in your area ck out ..
