Trans Pump modifaction (????)

When replacing a stock torque converter with a smaller hi performance unit (say a 10 inch) is it necessary to modify the trans pump before installing??

I was told that somekind of modification is needed to the pump in order to put a smaller (no-lock up) unit.

And does anyone know exactly what is done to the pump if this true?

Not real knowledgable about tranny's.

yes ,you need a non lock up valve,however it will work without it but this corrects convertor and lube circuitry to better work with an opoen style convertor .www.ckperformance.com
