Eric Rankin ran a glide in his stage II headed car. From the mid 90's to about 200 or so he worked his way down from 9's to low 8's, about 8.3 or so and 160+ mph. Always loved watching him run at the GN Mustang shootouts at Enghlishtown. I think his car was about 3300 lbs with him in it.

Cool. My car will be a tad bit lighter;) Just glad to see it has worked for a few guys:cool:

I worked on a twin turbo stage 2 with a glide and stock 3.42 gears. It went mid 5's at 130mph, weighing 3500#. IMO, if it's an 1/8 mile car I'd run the glide with a 3.90 gear. If it's a 1/4 mile car, it needs a 3 speed so you can run the 3.40-3.50 gear you'll need to keep the rpm's in check. But this is also a 160mph car. If the trap speed is lower you may get away with the 3.90 gear. You'll have to figure your trap speed to see if you have the rpm capability to make the 1/4 trip.

The problem was the car didn't have the power to 60' like a V8 car has. The 3.42 gear and the 1.80 trans ratio just wasn't enough. The car wouldn't 60' like it should. I think the 3.90 gear will solve the problem. I was at 30# of boost in .7 seconds and it still wasn't enough power to 60' in the 1.3's like it should.

Good point Dusty:cool: Maybe I need both. I race both 1/8th glide and 1/4 400 turbo tracks.:D

I don't know what you'll trap in the 1/4 mile. Being your car is lighter, you may get away with a 3.70 gear and a glide. The 3.70 may be enough to get the car to 60' and then be able to keep the rpm's down through the 1/4.

As the car sits now with a 390 gear 1/4 would hit the rev limiter @ 6800 shifting @ 6000 rpms. I installed a 350 gear and it slowed way down at the 1/8th 1.39 or worse 60ft but picked up mph 1/4 and 6300 through the traps. It will be a new start with a new motor plus combo. I dont think my 350 turbo will take it though?

Black Sheep from this board has been testing a T-350 behind his Stage 2 car. 5.80's at 127 mph so far at 3450#.
