My car is shifting around 4500 rpms for all gears under WOT. Trans has only 10,000 miles on it. Took it back to the shop that built it and all they did was adjust cable. That didn't help much. Did't have a tach to show them there but I used my Tlink we I got home. What is the right shifting points and what needs looking at when I take it back? I will have a tach or tlink their this time.

The govenor weight or spring. If it is a true BRF trannie you should have a small weight (WOT) with a spring and a larger weight (part throttle) with no spring. You either have the wrong gov. or need to take some weight off the small weight or differ spring. Do a search on gov and weight on here there are tons of info on this.

Thanks for the info. Called shop and taking car in next week to have governer looked at.

It was the wrong governor, put right one in and car runs fine! The trans shop didn't charge me anything for the fix being they built the trans also.

I can't believe this. I couldn't do a wot run Fri. when the new governer was installed because the roads were wet. I just new the shift points where higher(checked it with turbolink). Tonight I finally get to really try it out and the trans won't shift under wot. Any ideas on what to do? I pushed the tv cable all the way in to try that but no better results. The governer came out of a gn trans that was going to be rebuilt. Its a friend of mine and I am trying to get in touch with him to see if his was doing the same thing. Should I order a brand new governer?

thanks,

shannon

are you sure you have a GN vb??

If you don`t have the right VB the shifts will be very high or not at all with a GN gov. Get your old gov back & lighten the small wt. by drilling 2 - 3/16 holes on the outer edge.

Found a gn VB for 250.00. Anything I should do to it before it is installed?
