If I drive it normal, it's fine. I have a Pat's converter with less than 10,000 miles. The trans has about 20,000 on it. Anyone else fry one of these converters? I'm going to drop the pan & change the filter to inspect the fluid.

Checking the tv cable tonight. I think/hope this is the problem.

What gear? Mine flares bad on the 1-2 upshift but normal driving/ half throttle is fine. Im pretty sure my band is gone.

Sounds like the directs are out in the trans.

I went through 4 or 5 Pats convertors.
Had the TCC fail, fins break, start rattling, etc, etc.
Steve always honored it very well but they just wouldnt hold up to the abuse and this was not forcing L/U. I have a PTC now

So far everything looks o.k. Fluid is clean and fresh. Adjusted the tv cable but only got one click out of it. Have to wait until crap is off of the roads before I drive again.

Also fill the pan over till the fluid is in the middle of the back and forth bends on the dipstick to help the filter from sucking air

test drive results

Well, it shifts pretty hard now. I was trying to find out what rpm it shifts at now, but as soon as it hits second, the tires break loose. It definitely shifts later and seems like it wants to stay in 3rd at 55-65 mph. Should I re-adjust the tv cable back to the way it was or wait until track opens to see how it runs. It does seem to be a little quicker but could be in my head. My transmission buddy said if we can't find out the problem, take it to the track and run the hell out of it until something becomes obvious. Tim

Don't readjust your tv cable. THe proper way to adjust it is to push it back as far as it will go then stomp the gas to the floor. This is the way it is to be set in the manual. If the teeth are not worn on the adjustor, it should be set after this. Ever since I did this with my car it has shifted perfectly ever since.
