Recently purchased an 85K car from a member and after a minor resto, drove it a bunch today. Having no feel for how a 6 cyl, turbo car should feel (with respect to torque band, shift points, turbo boost), it seems to rev high very quickly then rpm drop then rev again. Boost pegs gauge quickly and may be detonating. Turbo is bigger than stock but can't see any #'s on it, and wastegate is 3" going into 2.5" duals no cats. Don't have scanmaster yet.
Fluid is clean and full. Car seems to shift OK under normal cruising. Trans seems to push car when decelerating. It is not factory but looks like a 2004R. Have not dropped pan yet. Pulled inspection cover and torque conv looks too new to be original, but in the car can;t see any #'s.
Questions:
=what can I adjust or check?
=how hard is it to rebuild trans?
=how do I know if wastegate is working properly as don't want to overspin and blow head gaskets?
