Started to happen right after a little street race. Shifts out of 1st at 2900 rpm, even when easing into it. My other car shifts at 1700 rpm. My transmission guy thinks it is a stuck throttle valve. I found some info on this website http://www.transmissioncenter.net/2004rtip.htm

Anybody have any other ideas? I haven't tried the "driving it 20-30 mph and hitting the gas" method to unstick the valve yet. I posted this in the transmission section but got no replies. Thanks.

You probably have a frayed TV cable, dont call it a passing gear cable. They will do this w/o any indication of binding.

The tranny guy tried pushing it in and out to unstick the valve, but no luck. I also tried the 20mph test with no luck.

It sounds like the spring might have come out of the governor. You might want to drop the pan and check.

I know it doesnt make sense, but the cable will bind just an imperceptable amount and cause this. Gov check, i agree. good luck, it shouldnt be a big deal.

The tranny guy is afraid that something plugged up the throttle valve....so if that is the case then the question is where did it come from? I hope it is just a spring. Or the cable binding. Now I have a code 34 Low Maf Sensor. Bought the LT1 Maf at oreilly's I think. Or maybe Advance. Should still have a warranty.

Couldn't he remove the TV cable from the top of the transmission and check for binding. Its just one bolt then you could feel of the rod tension at the source. That race may have pinched the cable if in the right spot and a bad mount. My $.02

Will check into it. Thanks.

Tranny guy came over and I asked him if I could reach the cable on top of the transmission. He said I wouldn't be able to. So he pulled on the cable some more and we went for a drive. Shifts into 2nd at 2600 rpm. He thinks it feels better and said to drive it a couple days and see how it is. My other car shifts at 1700 rpm but it is original transmission (with 210,000 miles). I also have a 3rd GN which I will take out. So can we take an unofficial poll and see what your transmissions shifts at from first to second? I am using an old OTC4000 to monitor shift points. Also, I'm just easing into the gas. Thanks.

Pull pan, remove four bolts at rear of trans, remove governor cover and I bet this is what you'll see:

Search and find the procedure for installing a set screw in the weight. It'll never fall out again.
