Does anyone happen to know the length of the trans throttle valve cable for an 86-87 TR? Runs from the throttle body down to the trans.

What'd ya do John - have a stroke when you priced a new one??? I know I did...

I meant to measure it when I replaced it but forgot.
I do know that "close" doesn't work (the one originally in my car was "close") So I bit the bullet and went OEM.

Just a quick question since we're on the subject...

There are 3 cables connected to the throttle linkage:
TV cable
Throttle cable
and ????
What the hell is the third one for? I ahd mine apart last night and was just wondering....I never really thought about it before

Measuring just the sheathed cable portion, and not the ends where it clips to TB and Trans, the correct one is about 4 feet.
Recently I needed a new one and my local Parts Plus store got me one that looked just right judging by the ends...but the thing was only 3 feet long. Went back and got one that was long enough, but this time it had an adjustable cable length (sleeve with set screw to adjust). Looked like it would have worked OK, but I had already epoxied the trans end of the stocker (it was leaking from the end) and so far, no leaks anymore.
I have both of those Parts Plus cables at home if you need brand and Part #s.

Good luck

Easy to forget the cruise. I just re-installed my cruise control after being without for about 5 years. What a pleasure............

I got another cable out of the junkyard and if it has to be 4' long, it isn't going to work. I'll look for another one and see if I can find a suitable junkyard replacement. You're right, Scott..........new costs too much. :D

See what your tranny shop will charge to get you one. I have a friend who owns a tranny shop and built mine. He got me a new one pretty reasonable. I do not think it was a GM part. It was a bout 30 to 35 dollars. No too bad.

tc86gn - make sure it is the right one.
Easiest way to tell is when the TV is set correctly, the throttle linkahe will still hit the stop on the throttle body.

I chased this problem for years (throttle wouldn't quite open all the way to the stop ...TV was holding it back)

Finally ordered the GM cable, problem solved.

The cable is for a Turbo regal (and year dependant) ONLY. Nothing else uses the same length.
